2nd TKR Nov.

I'm so excited to say that my 2nd TKR is coming up fast, Nov 30th. I had my left one done in Feb 2017. And it was the best thing. At the time I was like oh man what did I get myself into but after going thru PT, joining the gym after 2weeks in the gym my limp went away my knee was feeling amazing. And it still feels great. So now on to knee #2. Any advice on my 2nd one for me? So glad that i found this forum as theres such great advice on here. Appreciate all of it. Hope everyone is doing as well as to be expected. 😊😊

Hope your 2bd tkr goes as well as the 1st, but don't expect it to be exactly the same. They can be completely different. My 1st knee went well, 2nd knee still not good 18 months on. Its stiff, can't put weight on it going up & down stairs/hills. It's also throwing out my back & hip. I wish you luck with yours.

    Advice?

"Great kid.  Don't get cocky." - Han Solo, Star Wars Episode IV

I've read close to 5,000 posts on here and for people who have both knees done, there seems to be a common thread: These are two completely different instances of the same operation.  You CANNOT EXPECT the same result.  Most posters on the forum who have bilaterals either at the same time or months apart report having a different experience with #2 than they had with #1...some better, some worse, all in various degrees.  It's very rare to hear from someone who had the exact same experience with #2.

So...advice?  Clear your head of expectations.  Forget about #1 and approach this op independently.  Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best.  Do NOT be taken by surprise when you find that #2's recovery is different, to any degree, from #1.  NO COMPARISONS!!!!!  This is a different op...treat it as such.

Chico...I've heard so many people say they are not the same, and I'm going in with that mindset as I don't know. Hope for the best here. Thank you!!
