hi, I'm tapering only 6.25mg every 3 months. was at 75mg. now at 37.50mg. 25mg would be too large a cut to make. I have recently started getting general anxiety though so not sure if I'm going to be able to get off totally and may need to go back up.

Hi K this is just a thought but have you ever considered that you may need this medication? If there was an external reason for you becoming ill and this has now passed then fair enough but if it is chemical then you may need to stay on them albeit at a lower ticking over dose, as I say just a thought but you should not be suffering needlessly

The 3 times I have come off of medication I was quite lucky in that I did not have any withdrawal issues but have needed to go back on them due to my illness returning. This time (my 4th) it has been decided by myself and with agreement from my GP, that because I have no external factors causing me to be this way, it is a chemical problem, that is why I asked if you may think you need to be on them for the long haul rather then just a crutch to get you mentally in a better place

I 100% agree. I've done the whole "I feel better I'm coming off of them" thing and each time I had to go back, it may be a year or so apart but always ends the same. My father has the same issue and hes been on zoloft for 30 years now at least and he learned long ago that he will need to just take these for life and hes okay with that, hes lived a very normal and happy life being on them. I must have taken after him, and I've learned my lesson . Mine was not caused by an outside source, it's chemical, my anxiety goes into overdrive over everything. So yes, I totally agree that some people just have to stay on these. 1 pill a day to live a happier life is definitely worth not feeling anxious and stressed the whole time.

did you drop your dose then go back up? how long did it take for you to

feel better after going back up?

I've always been on 50mg, but my father at times during his 30+ years on it has had to increase a couple times during some really stressful life things but he's went back to his original 50mg.
