3 1/2 months post op

Feel like I'm doing okay. Still have some pain at surgery site. Some days I don't even know I had surgery and  then other days my body feels it. I have been driving and still feel like I'm sitting on something because my scar is still swollen a little.

I may not be where I'd like to be but I've come a long way from where I was. Hope all of you are doing well!

    Hi Miele

Sounds like you are progressing well. You are much farther down your journey than I am at 4.5 weeks but I know what you mean about the good days and not so good days

I have been doing really well but yesterday did some walking without crutches and today both hips are aching and I have had to take some pain killers

Even so, as you say still so much better than pre op

It is amazing how normal the joint feels at times - I have such a good range of movement now. I am sure your incision site will improve as time goes by

It's a strange feeling isn't it, like sitting on your mobile phone !

Wish you well with getting back to normal - take it easy

    Kind regards Linda xx

I remember being at 4.5 weeks. But don't overdo it walking withought your cane. My legs still get tired and achey after walking without my cane for too long. My doc said that I should still use my cane until I see him next month.

Good luck to you! You'll get there!

I'm 11 weeks and my site is still sore and feels a little numb in places. I can still see traces of bruises also. It's uncomfortable to lie on but generally doesn't bother me.

I would be walking well now - it's other ailments that are holding me back - I've got sore toe nail beds and have had to wear plimsolls and now my plantar fasciitis has come back because they are not supporting my feet so the feet make walking painful.

Plus my back which I jarred at Christmas is aching every time I do any bending.

You get one thing going great - I'm pleased with my hip - and other things get you down.

Still at least the hip is one big improved thing!

hi miele ...it is quite a journey, isn't it --- physically and emotionally - I think you are right on track and doing great - after I watched the surgery on youtube I realized the kind of trauma my body went through and how much needs to be repaired ... especially around the entry - the wound - all those muscles and tendons etc ... layer by layer ....

so be gentle and kind to your self - still a lot of patience is required - we cannot rush it and the worst thing is to compare your self with others of which I am guilty of ...

wishing you a good and peaceful night

    Hi Miele,

sounds like you are doing really well.

I know what you mean about cure one thing get another! But at least the hip is off the list.

good to hear where you are 3 1/2 months on. I'm 3 1/2 weeks and like everyone else have overdone it once, learned my lesson and now it's slow but sure. Trouble is I feel so much better I want to do more, but now stop myself, it's hard as I was very active before op, spent the last year building a bungalow!

i feel lucky I had the tennis for the last two weeks, first time in ages I've watched it with no guilt. I have to rest!

Thanks for letting us know it's good to hear from someone "with experience ".

Hope you have a good night

    Hello Miele,

That sounds good progress and to say you feel normal some days is very encouraging for someone like me at day 13.

i hope you continue to feel more like yourself again 😀

    Hi Miele

    You are doing well.

I am 13 weekls tomorrow and although I have had a good few drawbacks none of them really are / were to do with my operated side.

Don't forget it can take up to a year to really recover from this operation. Also don't forget you need to build up your bum muscles to give you some protection and padding from feeling the new hip.. I hope your recovery continues as well as it has done so far. smile
