3 cm gallstone with chest pain

Hi guys, I've been reading your stories and really do feel for you. I have been diagnosed with a 3cm gallstone in my gallbladder. I have constant chest pain in the middle of my chest up my neck and my right shoulder , I also have pain in my right lower rib which is very sore to touch. I take codine for the pain which does give me good relief and helps me sleep at night. I can't eat eggs as the pain gets much worse when I do! I am having my gallbladder out on the 15th Aug but the specialist has said this might not get rid of the chest pain. My question is does anyone else have chest pain with gallstones and after your operation did the pain go away? Also what is the chest pain? I have taken everything for it thinking it might be wind or indigestion but no luck.

Hi I only ever got chest pain when I was having and acute gb attack so compared to the many attacks I had this was only really 3 or 4 times. Maybe they are preparing you for the worst? Are they looking at exploring after you've had the op? Finger crossed the op does it for you and it takes away all the pain. If not maybe they will be able to identify any other factors that may cause issues for you. I'm 5 days post op and feeling bloody fantastic after dealing with gall stone pain for 18 months !

Hi Sam, yes the specialist said if it doesn't go away then they will look at other options. The first scan showed swelling of my bile duct but he said on the mri it looked fine. Glad to here your feeling good! It gives me hope for my op.

I had a stone caught just in the neck I'd had 3 weeks pain free before surgery do if I hadn't have had it I think id have had a major issue shortly. Hopefully then the stone has moved a bit. But yes that could cause some extra pain issues as there's never just one site that you experience pain with stones.fingers crossed for you

    Hi Sandra,

You might also have a hiatal hernia.  That can cause chest pain and pressure.

Hi Lynda, thankyou for your message. The specialist checked for that and there doesn't seem to be any problem. I'll soon find out if it's my gallbladder as my ops in 13 days .

I had a sore chest intill I had my gallbladder removed. Also pains in the back, shoulder and down my right arm. It is much better now. I was also diagnosed with a large hiatus hernia. That does not play up anymore. The only symptom I experienced is drinking wine which makes my chest feel raw. You should feel better after the removal of your gb. Good luck. I haven't looked back since? smile
