3 days post procedure in Australia

Just has the pae done on the sunshine coast in Australia. about an hour north of Brisbane for anyone interested. it was part of a trial. my doc trained in Portugal.
?have been reading others stories. mine similar so far. first urination after procedure was a revelation in terms of force. has not continued that way.
?felt good day one afterwards, but last couple of days feel pretty tired. may have overdone it the first post op day. driving etc.
?limited burning pain from day 2 which is still around, but no medication needed.
?very little consistency of urination. certainly no sustained improvement at this early point. still up 4-6 times a night.
?encouraged to hear its 1-2 months for sustained improvement. will log here further results for others.
?by the way no catheter fitted post procedure.
cheers

Thanks Greg,
My Pae was Sept. 20th. Ive noticed I can hold it much longer, sometimes 4 hours. Bladder is retaining more liquid, prostate isn't squeezed up like a pancake. Mt flow goes back and forth. One day I'm depressed the next happy. I was taking two flomox a day. I am now down to one. Sleeping 6 to 7 hours each night.
I hope it keeps improving.
Best to you

Hi its Greg here. confirming i had a PAE with an interventional radiologist, Dr Jonathan Robertson at Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, near Brisbane, in Queensland Australia.
6 days post op, I can report as follows;
?very limited pain while urinating and have used no pain killers at all.
4 hours sleep last night with out need to urinate. yea me! balance of night not so good.
?frequency of urination during day is hard to evaluate. in a morning I may think I have improved, only to find the afternoon back to the old frequency.
?back doing physical stuff, walked 7 ks yesterday and did my seconds 'weights workout' post op this morning.
?cant lift the weights I was doing pre op, but improving.
?further reports as relevant.
thanks greg

NB general or local ? I think it is normally local. Not too bothersome pain-wise, the procedure ?

Hi Paul
?I regret to say, I didn't ask my doc how quickly improvement is expected. 1 week on from pae today, and improvement still hard to find objectively.
?had a general, procedure took 3 hours, and doc said it was too long for a local as patients become uncomfortable and start to move around, inevitably.
?absolutely no directly relatable pain, during or afterwards.
?as stated previously have had 4 hours uninterrupted sleep, but not last night. back to every 2 hours up.
seems consistent with other posters.
more when relevant.
?cheers greg

I'm interested in how you're feeling now Greg. I had PAE done in NYC on Monday, 10/30/17 and I have to strain very hard to begin urinating. I'm sure it's due to inflammation but wanted to know if you had the same issue and how long it took to get better.

?Hi. No did not experience 'your' problem. Not even directly after the operation.
?now 16 days post op. improvement is now objectively 'seeable' for want of a better term, in as much as some nights 2-3 urinations, vs pre 4-6. however, its very inconsistent. some nights actually worse than pre procedure, but overall trending better slowly.
?I see my doc next Monday, so looking forward to discussing how the others on his trial are going in comparison with me.
?good luck with your straining. its v early days obviously.

What trial are you in?

the trial is a localized one here on sunshine coast, Queensland, Australia. My doc learned the pae skills in Portugal. Only limited docs doing this procedure so far in Australia.
Trial was for about 10 patients I think.
