3 months in with Bells Palsy with constant ear problems, blockage etc, think I have ETD ?

3 months ago I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy. I had very severe pain for the first 4 weeks - excruciating ear pain, facial nerve pain and debilitating headaches.  I still have the facial paralysis with very little improvement. Went to the doctor about 8 weeks ago with a constant blocked ear feeling, she told me to take antihistamine tablets and use a nasal spray. No improvement at all. I then had to move house and found that the constant moving and tiring days aggravated it more, it seemed to be worse when I was bending etc and I also started to get bouts of nausea. I went to a new doctor 2 weeks ago and was told to use a steroid nasal spray, try steam inhalation..........

l feel like this condition is driving me insane !! As with Bells, it seems this is an unknown with doctors unable to help. I am finding it hard to function!

i have just found this forum while being a 'google doctor' and looking for any help anyone can give. Many thanks. Janine

I was just diagnosed yesterday with bells palsy. They prescribed me steroids and another medicine. Hopefully it helps. My ear on the right side is what hurts so bad and right behind my ear. My face looks horrible if I smile or laugh. I am very embarrassed to go anywhere.

    Hi avjefferies,

I am sorry to hear this. BP is a terrible affliction :-(

I also had very severe pain in the first few weeks, not everyone has pain, but many do. Recovery is a real unknown, could be weeks or months.

There is a very good support forum online (google Bell's palsy support forum) in the UK. It was a godsend for me as doctors just send you on your way and you don't know what is normal and what is not. I wish you a speedy recovery. Make sure you rest heaps as your body needs it now. Janine
