3 months later report

So it is now 11 weeks since my hip replacement. Here's my report:

Walking about half the time without a crutch. Short distances are fine but still need it just for lightly balancing on longer walks and when I'm tired.

Sleeping great. Can sleep in any position. Sometimes needs some Tylenol at bedtime if I've had a physical day.

Stamina is returning slowly. Can certainly walk greater distances than I have been able to in at least a year. My unoperated side has referred pain to the knee so that's what is holding me back right now. Operated side has no pain at all.

Still have a bit of limp but that's my fault for skipping exercises. When I remember to do them I feel a difference.

Back at work full time and managing well.

Swelling around scar only subsided about 2 weeks ago. Scar is more purple and visible. Sometimes pinches and is itchy but nothing major.

I need to work more on positions I have avoided for years - squatting, bending knees, bringing leg up to tie shoes, etc. I'm stiff when I try these so I need to push a little more.

Still Fing vacuuming and mopping hard. The combination of balancing and pushing is still exhausting.

Hope this helps. I'm so glad I got it done and feel so much better. I recovered fairly quickly even though it felt long at the time.

Well done! I found cycling really helped, I'm 12 months in & 100% back to normal so it only should get better from here.

Sounds like you are progressing very well. Great news. I wish you continued heeling.one day at a time. THR can give us a better quality of life.

With each issue you mentioned you need to work on don't feel like the Lone Ranger. We all had many struggles but soon you will have much better strength back to normal.  Be careful pushing /pulling to much or lifting anything over a few lbs.

Remember this glute squeezes the most important exercise of them all.

    Peace & Heeling

    HOPE biggrin

Wow that all sounds great. I have to be honest - I'm kind of enjoying someone else vaccuming! If you can think of a good reason why someone else has to do the ironing, please do let me know cheesygrin

I'm envious of anyone who can throw away the crutches - even half of the time!
