3 months on sertraline

I still have depressing thoughts or anxiety, but they are getting better. I think a lot has to do with positive self talk and prayer. If I have negative or anxious thoughts, I try to keep in mind , I can't worry about tomorrow it's not here yet. My past is gone, so I try and live in the moment - it's not easy. Now Knowing suffering is a part of life, I remind myself to trust in God he has a plan. This forum and reading online bible scriptures about anxiety and depression is helping me. Believing is so hard when depressed or hopeless. I've been working on not worrying about things I can't control, or past things I can't change. I don't no if this is helpful, but I'm going to stay on the 50mg. 3 months in I still have my ups and downs, not sure if it's working.

If you feel a difference at all, the pills are working. You may be levelled out now and need to increase your dose but don't do an increase without talking to your doctor first. The positive thinking and your scripture reading no doubt, is also helping you very much. I hope you feel better real soon.

Thank you for your reply, I didn't think it would take so long to work.

When you have anxiety, 1 week seems like 4 weeks. Like I said, you may need to go to the next dose. When I first started taking this med, it felt like forever and I really thought they would never work. People around me started to see positive differences in me before I saw it because I always dwelled on the bad times. I was on 100 mg for 7 years and about a year ago, my anxiety started slowly here and there. I waited for it to get unbearable before I went to my doctor. He increased me to 150 mg 11 days ago and with me trying to think positive and the support I have, I'm really hoping they will soon kick in. I get intrusive thoughts with my anxiety and I think my anxiety feeds off that. It's a slow process but in the end, it's great! I've also been reading about magnesium, vitamin d and vitamin B12 and the affect that has on our nervous system. It doesn't hurt to get those checked as well, just something for you to consider??

I take vitamin b12 and a multi vitamin everyday, I've noticed many people say they have to increase the dose. I didn't want to go back to the doctor being hopeful this is all I would need. Thank you for you replies they are helpful. How long did it take for you to notice you felt better?

I can't remember how long it took in the beginning because the first time I was put on them was 13 years ago. I do remember that my doctor increased the dose every 2-3 weeks by 25 mg until I got to 100 mg. I recently had a couple of very stressful and frightening things that happened in my life and so my doctor increased mine to 150 mg 11 days ago. I can tell they are working because I notice more and more peace in my life but I think they're starting to work fast on me because I already have them in my system. My family can also see the difference. It's an up and down journey that's for sure and this group certainly helps. I'm here anytime you need me, even if it's just to chat.
