Hi my worst relapse was about 2 months after and have felt everything you do. Still get relapses but they are much less frequent and the intensity is no where near what you’re experiencing right now. I am 6 months in for me, a relapse is feeling anxious and slightly flu like. The worst is the fear that you’ve pushed yourself too hard and are going to have to go through the awful times that you are going through now. But it does improve!

    Hi Emma,

I’m currently in my 7th month of GF and going through the exact same!

Back ache, abdomen pains, tiredness and just a general sh*tty feeling!!!

Hopefully it won’t last long and will continue on the road to recovery x

Yep, been there. I was sick for 6 or 7 months, got very slowly better over the next six months, then slammed back to square one and spent another two months resting (nausea, shakes, aches, weakness, very easily fatigued). Now recovering, again. It really sucks but it is fairly common. Try not to get discouraged. Don't expect recovery to be linear so that you'll be less disappointed by the low periods. I know that's much easier said than done. Most of us won't have MS or CFS or fibro or brain tumors even though we feel like something is awfully wrong with our bodies - those are all the very rare exceptions.

      Hey everyone,

Definitely agreeing with folks that relapses, mostly mini-relapses can cause setbacks during recovery, as Sarah says that is normal and it's understandable to worry and panic when you feel all those symptoms coming on again, but remember it's only short term and things usually do stabilise out in a much shorter space of time with these relapses - you will not ever have to face what you faced in the first few weeks / months again - each down spell I think is a way of your body getting further on top of the virus and makes you stronger for it, although i know that doesn't help at the time when going through it.

    Hi Emma,

Oh poor you I am thinking about you, remember recovery with this is up and down, zig-zag, so it is normal to have this kind of dip / relapse unfortunately - that doesn't mean to say it will last long as what you felt like at the start, generally it doesn't and these kind of lapses become less bothersome as times goes on.

I'm sure it's not likely to be MS or anything like that, it's just this virus can make you feel wiped out. You've done the right thing by seeing your doctor about everything recently and do see the doc again for reassurance if still worried.

Thinking about you still Emma, you are gonna get through this I believe in Jesus for that.
