happy birthday hip you are doing really well!

i can usually walk without a limp - exceptions are at the end of the working day when i am knackered and when i stand up after having sat for too long

i carry my folding, flowery cane for protection rather than support, i am on the exercise bike every morning before work and work is teaching so i rarely sit down during the day!

people tell me how well i look - no pain so i guess my face is happier!

trying to think of the worst part of the experience -the first thing that comes to mind was my total panic attack at the thought of going downstairs on the first morning home so I became Rapunzal stuck in my tower for a day, but when I noticed the bannister I realised i could do it!

the worst pain was getting into bed OMG it was painful  but gradually eased

the best things about the whole experience - realising who my real friends are and how lovely they are

realising that after 30 years my husband could learn to hoover a carpet

having my then 10 month old granddaughter beat me to walking independently round the house by 3 days

and - no pain!!!!

also it makes one re evaluate ones life - a truly life changing experience in the best possible way

onwaeds and upwards indeed xxx

Congratulations on your progress. I was like that after my first replacement and it was fantastic. I just had my other one done three weeks ago which unfortunately is not making such a quick recovery but there is still some progress and hopefully it will get there in the end!

You will be able to look forward to a fantastic pain free summer. Enjoy!!

That brought a smile to my face, how lovely that your life has seen such massive improvement, seems your family and friends are all enjoying the improvements too - that is my aim also - to improve everyone's lives and not just my own!

    Take care

hi Margaret, my bike was used for drying washing!!!i started to use it at about 8 weeks post op, the physiotherapist said to make sure the seat was as high as possible so that the 90 degree thing was still safe.I actually think it is the best exercise i do -i am not a fan of the other ones!!
