3 weeks In...

Hi I was prescribed Sertraline 3 weeks ago after my mirtazipine stopped working. I'm three weeks in and have the worst side effects. Insomnia, sweating loads, feeling sick, tummy ache. I'm not sure weather to carry on for a while or go back to the GP for something else because I just feel terrible all the time on sertraline. They have mAde me anxiety a lot better I haven't had a melt down on the time I've been on but so far that's the only good thing. My appetite is also non existent which I don't like as I normally love my food. Any info or help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Kirsty,
From what I can gather I think the drug seems to either give loads of side effects and help the anxiety/depression quicker or the side effects are less (as in my case) but the positive effects are also a lot slower.
For me I had very little side effects (other than lack of sleep) but also the drug took ages to work. I'm hopeful that in your case it sounds like you're very sensitive to Sertraline so the positive effects should start coming through a lot quicker.
Keep me posted,
Rich.

Hi
Thanks Richard. I rang my GP this morning and he said I should stop taking them if I'm still getting bad side effects nearly four weeks in. So I will see what else can be prescribed.

Ok Kirsty - keep me posted on how you get on.
Personally I would have persevered fopr another 2 weeks, but I wouldn't go against your doctor's advice.
Take care,
Rich.

I'm just a week in with horrible side effects too. Numb, tired, emotionless, I'm hoping the old me will come back soon though.
Good luck

I've just completed my second week of 50mg Sertraline, and in that time I too have had hot flushes and sweating bouts. Also my appetite was pretty much none existent, although I have been sleeping well. Even though it's only been Two weeks in, I do feel myself again though I still hold a expected hiccup in reserve.
