Hi

I've been on fluoxetine for 3wks now for anxiety, I feel terrible this lastweek with sweating, shakes and body tremors, no appetite, not sleeping, dry mouth, upper back aches. Hopefully it will get better? Trying to persever for another few weeks but it's so hard, no motivation at all.

It will get better. I am on sertraline a very similar ssri and i had these symptoms and muscle twitching. 4 weeks in almost and the side effects are starting to subside and my anxiety is much improved! Stick with it and it will be worth it x

Hi I'm into my 5th week taking fluoxetine for the first time the same dose for the same reason. The first 3 weeks were the worst particularly the 3rd week, i had similar side affects. I can honestly say I'm now just feeling the benefit so please hold tight as they do work and initially i was really doubtful they would.

Thank you very much for your reply, glad to hear positive results. Wk 3 seems to have been the worse but living on a few hours sleep a night isn't helping.. Do you get a lot of acid reflux on fluoxetine, not sure if it's just my anxiety making my chest tight but I feel I'm constantly swallowing it's so annoying.

I suffered with gastritis and acid relux before starting fluoxetine, i think its helped so think it was due to anxiety although at the time i didn't think that had myself diagnosed with all sorts x

Yeah think it's probably been there from when my anxiety kicked off again this year, but like you say your mind ticks away. Xx

Hi there. I started fluoxetine 20mg 2 weeks ago. I am really struggling with the side effects. Very anxious, especially in the morning. I have really bad insomnia and terrible acid reflux. I really want to quit, but I've heard it gets so much better. It's hard to hang in there, but I think these side effects are fairly normal. I'm amazed at how many people go through the same side effects when starting Fluoxetine. If I hadn't found this site. I might have stopped taking them by now. I hope everyone is hanging in there. I know it's hard, but hopefully it will all be worth it!

HI Natalie i can only echo what everyone else has said and i was the biggest doubter, the side effects do go and you can see the light bit by bit. First 3 weeks are hard and im still not there completely , but much better than I was. Hang in there x

Thanks so much Katie! I will keep powering through these side effects. I guess I cant expect miracles overnight...or weeks in this case. I'm so glad its worked for you. It really helps to hear that. Thank you so much. I'll keep going X

Thanks Wendy! The more support I get on here , the more I want to keep on going! It means a lot to hear that you've had the same journey. It's a battle, but I've come 15 days so far. I better keep on going, or I'll be back at square 1. I'm so glad to hear that you're doing better. It's nice to hear that fellow sufferers are getting the relief they deserve. Its definitely a tough battle. Thanks so much for the positivity X
