3 weeks on citalopram 20mg. Struggling

I've been on citalopram 20mg for just over 3 weeks. i started on 10mg for 1 week and upped the dosage as per GP guidance.

The first week I had very bad acid reflux and vivid dreams, these have subsided now.

Week 2 I felt slightly better and a bit brighter but that was short lived!

For the last week or so I’ve been feeling more anxious and panicky than when I started the meds. It’s worse in a morning and gradually wears away towards late afternoon. I don’t want to get out of bed and I really have to push myself to get out of the house. I’ve been off work for nearly 4 weeks and I doubt I’ll be back any time soon.

Ive got no appetite and I’ve lost a lot of weight.

I’ve read it can take a while to get into my system but I just feel so dreadful I feel like stopping them altogether (with professional advice of course)

If anyone out there is in a similar situation or can offer some positivity and support to keep me going I would be forever grateful.

everyone responds to this type of medication differently. Some people feel better within a couple weeks, other people it can take up to six weeks or so. others end up having to try another medication.

just try to take one day at a time and stay in contact with your doctor about how you are feeling. only you and your doctor can make a decision on what to do.

I know it’s difficult getting through those weeks in the beginning. but if you’re still not feeling better see what your doctor thinks. Hope it all works out for you.
