Hope someone can chime in and give me comfort this is normal and will go away. smile

My freaking anxiety is full blown and no fun. I am pretty emotional and something I wish I didn't feel.

I had laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair.

Anyway I am just about 3 weeks post op and so far the surgery seams solid and good! no pain and nothing out of the ordinary. had my 2 week follow up with the surgeon and says everything is solid and I just need to relax.

So "kind of TMI" but 3 days after surgery finally had bowel movement. went smooth as i took stool softener to help. next 3 days had BM every morning but it was loose and yellowish. spoke to surgeon and said probably my inners still waking up and give it time. I did call my GI doc and he did stool samples to rule out some things and called few days later stating all clear. That was just under two weeks. 3rd week though BM's have formed better but i notice I cant eat a decent meal without gas pains and feeling bloated. if eat to much I get gas pains pretty bad and feel bloated. I have no other signs, no sickness, high temp, etc.  Past two days been eating smaller portions of food and it has helped. with just minor or no real gas or bloating pain.

Was wondering if any one that had my type of surgery and experienced this gas stuff and how long before you got back to normal?

when stating this to both GI doc and Surgeon nurse both just tell me to take Gas-x to help.

So anyone have this gas stuff after hernia repair?

Thanks for your knowledge and experience,

Dave
