3+ Years on Seroquel

Posted , 4 users are following.

I've just been reading all the previous posts on Seroquel and wanted to add my little bit. As noted I've been on it for a long time and think it's the best drug ever for me. My old racing thoughts, anxiety, suicidal thoughts have all gone and I'm able to function as any 'normal' person is able to. I work 12hr days and often weekends and am absolutely aware that this is because of the good nights sleep I get along with the anti-psyschotic action.

I love life again. :D

hi, yes i agree you can cut down as long as you are self-aware and increase it in times of stress - i went from 450mg a day to now a nibble or two of a seroquel for night time restful sleep- lack of sleep was a big trigger for my illness to get worse - Occasionally take more when i feel stressed and sliding downhill towards 'the abyss' -they also stop the other symptom of having too much energy - im bi-polar - would like to give up meds one day but feel very grateful for this medication as it helped keep me out of hospital and changed my life.

Hi, i also agree seroquel has been my wonder ndrug, it has brought me back from a terrible dark place, and I am functioniong, although sleepy at times, and living live. I give it 9/10 the lost poit would be for the weight gain.

Hi Celt, Seroquel worked pretty fast for me, number one it helps greatly with sleep, so once you start to get a better sleep pattern this will also help in reducing some of the anxiety. There is the normal release type and the slow release type. I found the slow release type (XR) releases slowly over the day so you feel calmer, more in control, and far less anxiety. This all takes 3 - 6 weeks, but in my books is an excellent drug to help anxiety long term, if you are finding it hard to cope until the seroquel kicks in ask for a tranquiliser for the next three to four weeks. Anxiety is the fear of the future, once the seroquel has kicked in you will have a much better life, where you will regain your confidence and start enjoying life. Luvox works nicely with Seroquel, which is also great for anxiety, stay on your Doctors case until he gets everything 100%, make notes before you go see him/her about your progress, your thoughts, side effects, open cards. One of the problems is the cost, what dosage were you prescribed. Take Care, Rob

However the other benefits of Q I sleep incredible amounts on it. If I take 15g I sleep 9 hours and if I take the full 30g dose I want to sleep even longer. This means that it makes it difficult to do any meaningful activity in the morning. I have been advised not to work and it is just as well.

I do voluntary work where alertness is not necessarily at such a premium.

I must add that I am also on Mirtazipine which itself has a sedative effect.
