im 15 and have had this illness fr 3 yrs

it doesnt seem to be going annd ive lost all hope

im now really self conscious and not the girl i once was

ive heard stories about people who have had it all their live and it frightens me

i fear i wont experiance life becase of this illness, guess its ok if you have it later in life because you have already all those 'first time' things but i dont think i ever will

nobody likes a girl with pityriasis rosea - even if you have the most wonderful personality i find it turns people off

im tired off hiding

my GP doesnt seem to want to do anything about it

i just want to live again

Hi, you poor girl! my heart goes out ot you. I just found out that i have it, felt like crying. but i live in hope that it will be gone in a few weeks.

If it doesnt and my go wont do anything about it i will head for another opinion. get your mother or who ever or just head off your self and do it. ask your gp to referr you to a skin speicalist. tell him/her you want it.

maybe because you are a teenager and all the hormone stuff is going on they might be reluctant to do much but at least you deserve a reason afer 3 years. ask why they wont do anything. they have to give you and ans.

most teenagers have spots etc anyway, some get them on their backs etc so they are prob worried about them anyway. you migh even get awy with people thinkin you got teenage spots, which is quite normal.

hope it all works out for you, take care!

Hi. I'm 26 and i've had it since i was 18. I'm with my bf and he has no problem with the rash. He's just happy its not contagious! lol. I know its easier said than done, but if ur confident, ppl will see past the rash. It looks way worse to us than it does to other people! trust me. xxxxxx :D

Oh hun, I absolutely feel for you! It doesn't seem to matter in this world if you have a cracking personality if you've got something wrong with you, people are soo cruel! When you have pityriasis rosea you just feel like the elephant man, and if you don't feel good in yourself then it's hard. Especially being so youngs when looks seem to more important than anything! I've had this several times now, once over Christmas time and New Year, I felt like such a hermit cos I just couldn't come out because it looked so awful, it really lowers your self esteem! You do get to see who your true friends are though, and also true guys.. And you will find someone who will love and fancy you regardless of it! It might look awful but it is not contagious, and it IS what is inside that counts! I remember I covered myself head to toe in plasters to cover them all as I swear they were spreading and thought it might help, and it actually did. Can you imagine walking around like a mummy?!! Had some bad times with it, and it does find a way of seeming to take over and ruin your life, but try not to let it. I wish you the best of luck and hope some specialist finds a miracle cure for it, it is not fair you have got it, I hope you've got some great friends and family. Lotsa love xx
