    Hi Julie

It's tough but you'll get through it. It's a tough call to generalize how long the side effects last because it's different for everyone. You are on such a small dose that your doc may want to increase you to 75mg. I've been dealing with side effects for a long time. I have good days and bad days. I think it's important to feel the good moments and recognize them. Also, don't set yourself up for the anxiety and side effects. If you wake up thinking you are going to have them you will. That's something I know first hand. Stay positive, stay in touch with your doctor and trust that you won't feel this forever.

Hi Julie, the worst of the side effects should settle at about 3-4 weeks, but if you have to increase the dose youll probably get the side effects again till you settle on that dose. Im on 150 sert and had side effects for 3 weeks with each dose increase. Ive been on sert for 5 months, been on 150 for 5 weeks and its suddenly clicked and im having no anxiety or dizziness and feel pretty good, normal, or better! I went up in 25s so it was a long haul but i guess the side effects werent as severe doing it gradually. Try and stick with it if you can. I used diazepam to help when having the worst side effects in the first few weeks, very calming. I use sominex to help me sleep when i need a good night as the sert does affect sleep. Try and keep busy if you can doing things that take you out if your head...cleaning, baking, watching films etc. Hope this helps x

      Hi Geoff.

Sorry to hear sertaline isn't for you, I only got few days of insomnia. My body is much better on SSRI... mirtzapine was killing my motivation I couldn't move for hours after getting up. I hope they suit you
