34 AF | 2nd Ablation - whats next!

Hi everyone smile

**Long post alert!!*

i just joined as i feel i need to talk with people who are going through what im going through.

Long story short, last September i had a mini stroke which of course raised red flags. They discovered i have AF and i was but on beta blockers which very quickly began to give me very long pauses up to 30 seconds. Ive been on lots of different kinds but i do not tolerate any of them.

I was then booked in for my 1st ablation which was quickly determined unsucessful. I was in hospital for days while they tried to find a medication i could tolerate and there were none, they were all making my heart stop which resulted in me having a temp pacemaker in my neck for several days.

I had my 2nd ablation 4 weeks ago and my AF ever since has been very strange. The beats are more in my throat if that makes any sence and it slows down from 170 to 70 and stays for a few seconds and then speeds back up to 170. This can happen several times an hour and makes me very dizzy and tired.

I have now been in steady AF for 5 days which is my longest stint. Normally im 2/3 days AF and then 2 days of peace.

I just dont know what to think.... i know i have a long way to go into my 3 month blanking period but deep down i think this ablation has not been sucessful either.

Would just like to hear from anyone who has been in the same boat and what further course f treatment you were presented with.

Im told my case is extremely rare at my age.... my Dad has the same condition but his did not start until he was 68!

Love to hear from you all. I try and stay positive and upbeat but i get down sometimes. We were planning to have children soon and that might not happen for a while now sad

In addition, only meds im on is riveroxiban and im a bit chubby whicj im told does not help this condition!!

Hi Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear what's been going on with your health, and you are very young too.

I'm afraid my story cannot help you because I'm the same age as your dad and most things cardio change as we get older. I'm just about ready for my third ablation as my heart is in flutter more times than not.

All I can advise is to keep pestering your cardiologist or doctor. Also keep a day to day diary of how you feel, maybe gradually over the three months you will see some progress.

    Fingers crossed for you xx
