All I can say about aloe vera is that the native American Indians and Spaniards used to use the plant to make a tea that is supposed to be very healing for the stomach (abdomen?). I've used it for healing cuts and sores but not for the stomach. Insofar as probiotics, I was advised by a pharmacist that strong, medicinal probiotics are extremely beneficial for people with DD. The probiotic that she advised was one that is refrigerated in the pharmacy, not the ones on the shelf, which she said were not strong enough for someone with an actual abdominal condition. I take one daily.

i also had 2 episodes of DD in one year and i was treated successfully with oral antibiotics. Shortly after my last episode (about 2 months) I had many of the same DD symptons but after a CT scan they determined no active DD but diagnosed it as IBS . My GI doctor prescribed amytriptiline and I have felt fine since taking it. I am not sure if this will help others with DD but it is definitely worth asking your doctor if it could be helpful for you. I also take a strong probiotic and tumeric daily, drink lots of water, and eat smaller food portions.
