3mm kidney stone

Hi. Ladt Friday morning I woke up in agony. I was sick and ended up in a and e. I had full bloods ultrasound and a ct scan. They found a 3mm kidney stone. By mid afternoon the pain vanished. They have given me meds to make my tubes wider. It's now been 3 days with no pain. What's happening? Have I already passed it?

Well, mine was rather large( 1.1 cm), so the Dr blasted it with expectations the fragments will pass ( which none have as yet). This all started last Tues. night when I awoke to horrific pain, went to ER, ct scan showed a smaller one on rightside, larger on left. I passed the smaller one two days later. Then got a fever/discomfort on other side. And, here I am still in pain, but from a different source. I’ve had 2 other stones a few years back, but that was minimal discomfort. My question to everyone is: as the days pass, will the discomfort show relief of any significance?? Because I cannot even fathom teaching p.e. in this condition. Stent will be removed May 30. Thanks for any help.

Hi Susan, I feel for you.the pain you have might be the stent, I had one in for 14 weeks and it was the worst 14 weeks of my life, after I had my uretecopy I still had a little discomfort for a few weeks but in your case you hadva fever so you could have a UTI so antibiotics maybe needed so I would go back to your doctor and give another sample, they may want to repeat the scan to see if you have a blockage or something.

Hi Gary, im glad your not in pain thats good, whether you have passed it is hard to tell, is your urine redish or real dark coloured if so chances are you still have it but it might be moving through, keep drinking lots of water and keep a look out when you go for a pee! A stone can take days or weeks to pass or im my case it was stuck and blocking my Ureter so laser treatment was neccessary but with you it sounds like you have passed it with minimal pain so be very gratefull and see how it goes in the next few days, if no more pain then great just remember that now youve had one you will be more than likely have another in the future so drinking 3liters of water a day is paramount.

I think you would know if you had passed it but I could be wrong.

If you have not passed it it may rear it's ugly head again at some point.

    Drink plenty of plain water

Take care and keep in touch

Well I've only had slight lower back pain since my day in hospital. Still unsure if it's gone. The hospital are booking me in for another ct scan soon

Hope the scan shows if the stone has gone or not then at least you will know one way or the other.

    Keep in touch
