3rd year test, changes

Posted , 3 users are following.

so seen doctor yesterday after biopsies, the barretts is now 8cm with changes from scope 3 years ago but no dysplacia.

i am kind of stuck if this means the changes will eventually go to cancer or not and the doctor has just said re scope in 3 years.

Anyone any idea?

    Hi Tambdy,

Sounds like the only change was that your Barretts grew a bit. No dysplasia is the key. Dysplasia is pre cancerous cells and you don't have any which is why you can wait another 3 years for a scope.

      Thanks Sashla,

I was thinking that myself but the fact that they said the cells had changed was concerning. I am thinking the next stage is Dysplasia but hopefully by daily changes it will slow the progression.

Do you have any idea what the procedure is if it goes to Dysplasia?

      Thanks

My understanding is that they just burn or freeze the cells off which should totally eliminate the dysplasia. Then you have more frequent check ups for a while.

There's more info about it from other people's experiences on this website.

      Hi Sashla,

Thanks for that, i have not really read much about it and just burried my head in the sand..

I think it's about time i take it more seriously.
