I also have all my glands up in my armpit on arm that was operated on, has anyone else had this??.. I have driven for the first time today and my arm is aching all the way down to my hand.Im also still getting a lot of pins and needles in all my fingers. I am due back at work in a week.. What I would like to know is is all this a normal part of recovery?? sould I be pain free by now??. Any reply would be great . thank you x

Hi, As I was told, it made be 6 months, however I am going into my 9th month and I still have very bad nerve pain, my hand is always very cold and I have developed arthritis in my middle finger. My doctor told me he does 150 a year and maybe 1 or 2 don't work. I could have lived with the numbness but this is way worse. I tried accupuncture but it only worked for a couple of days. I am going to try for another opinion. Give it time. I hope your result is better than mine.

Hi, I had my surgery in left hand one month ago in 2 more days.  Scar is healing nicely. Some tightness and tenderness still in the palm of hand and redness in the wrist. Thumb feels somewhat stiff at times only. I try to exercise my hand very frequently but not use it too much doing other things. I have found this to be key. If I overuse it I get  lots of prickly funny little sensations. For a few days now I rub/massage vitamin E oil into and over the scar several times a day which feels real good and I believe is helping with the healing process. My surgery has worked wonderful so far as my carpal tunnel was real bad hurting almost 24/7. Not being able to write or even hold a fork sometimes. Where my right hand yet to be done is still very bad waking me up and the left now fixed hand doesn't. I think you are rushing things. like I said when/if I overuse my left hand It bothers me. Through out the day I will use a soft wrist brace just to insure no overuse. Some suggest to use a brace and some say not to. You must follow your own symptoms and it will let you know if overusing. I would suggest if you have to work and use your hands alot to maybe use soft wrist support not only to not overuse it but to protect it. I have researched many, many sites trying to educate myself on this subject and you are your own best advocate on what to do and not to do. Listen to your hand. I have also talked personally to people I know who have had the surgery. Some years ago and some inbetween. ALL of them have had success!!! But they all also said it takes time to heal without any feelings of sensories or pain, up to a year at least. Hope this helps. Looking forward to my right hand surgery beginning of Nov.

Vit E is great for scars and helps the apperance of them too. E45 cream is also good to massage in as helps soften things.
