This is my first post!!

I've had diviculitus since 2005 (last endoscope was 2017 which said there was multiple diviculitus..with narrowing and twisted of the sigmoid area)and I've just had a double prolapse operation.. bowel and bladder(Feb ) but in the last 6wks I have had 3 really bad episodes of diverticulitis flare ups (not admitted)and I'm at my wits end I'm on two laxido's a day to try and soften up things..and at present to throw in the mix I have 3x compressed nerves in my lumber area so pain coming from all areas..concern this extra bowel being pushed into this already complicated area could be causing!! ..any guidance would be appreciated..thanks for reading this..??

I am so sorry Anita that you are having so much trouble. I am sort of new to this myself but I think for me I never really healed the first episode before having a 2nd quickly behind it.  I have a friend who has had this disease for 18 years and she says a flare takes a very long time to heal completely.  I would think an operation would take a really long time to heal.  You will most likely hear from those more experienced than I am.  This forum is a big help.

For myself I think lack of knowledge was a factor.  After the low residue foods from the first attack and diagnosis with CT scan and the normal antibiotic treatment, I went back to eating normal foods and portion sizes and thus had a relapse.  I think we need to always eat small meals and be careful what we eat.

I think if I were you I would go back to be seen by a Doctor.  There seems to be a lot going on and I don't think you should let a lot of time go by before getting professional help.  Certainly cutting back on foods and maybe doing a low residue diet would not hurt. Be careful with meats.  But to be on the safe side go back or get another Dr's opinion. Too much is at stake here.

I am sorry Anita and I will pray you will soon be well.

    Blessings to you,

    Georgie

Like George, I feel that after the first flair up I started eating more regular food to soon. I have had 3 flair ups and I noticed that the night before each flair ups I was introducing raw food.

I went to nutrition specialist to share 2 weeks diet.

I also take 2 probiotics every day in the morning 2 hours after the 2 antibiotics: vsl#3 and mega sporebiotic. Please keep in mind we are all build differently and I am not a specialist. I am just sharing my learning experience while I am on my third flair ups with diverticulitis. Please keep asking questions that way all of can learn from each other.
