4.5 months PostOp...STILL In PAIN😡

So my right shoulder was a mess... SLAP tear repair, bone spur removal, rotator cuff had to be reattached and my upper bicep tendon cut and reattached. All done May 27th and my last appointment with Ortho was a few weeks ago on the 8th, I'm supposed to be going back to work on 10/5 and this crap STILL hurts!!! Still cant lay on my right side, and I keep getting this nasty burning sensation. I wish I didn't have the damn surgery. I'm in more pain now than before the surgery. And ROM it awful!

    Hi there,

    I feel your frustration.

I am also 10 weeks post op. I initially had a slap tear repair over 2 years ago , it also left me with limited ROM so I agreed to have an adhesive capsulitis surgery done to remove scar tissue to give me back me ROM, well, I'm in more pain now, same as you, cannot lie on my right side, too painful and am still struggling with my ROM, I can't even do my hair, very frustrating.

It's like your dammed if you and dammed if you don't.

There must a way out of this dreadful situation. I'm talking to my surgeon this Friday so lets see what he says..

Not sure if your burning sensation is related to nerve pain, if it is, you can try taking Lyrica, that worked for me 😃

BF in same position. He had rotator cuff, debridement and bicep tenodesis, he is almost 15 weeks post op and still in terrible pain he is struggling to do his stretches. He has pain in his shoulder, bicep, forearm, inner elbow, thumb, hand and his shoulder blade.

The surgeon somehow was so careless and gave him nerve damage in two different places so he has been in constant pain 24 hours a day for over 3 months and sleeps about 4 hours a night because the pain gets worse and goes crazy while trying to sleep. He has a full time job so you can imagine how much he has been suffering.

He still can't lay down and regrets the surgery and doubts he will ever heal. His ROM is horrible and he doesn't have any strength. They put him on LYrica and Amnitryptiline for his horrible nerve pain but it made him sleep all day and with a full time job it is impossible for him so he hasn't been on ANY PAIN MEDS!

The nerve pain seems to be letting up the last few days thank goodness. INstead of all day it comes and goes throughout the day, I just hope it isn't permanent!

Also, his arm doesnt rest against his body when his arm is down it kinda sticks out to the side as if the bicep tendon was attached too tightly. Is that normal? Does that happen to you?

I am in the same damn position. Post shoulder surgery pain has dominated my life till now 20 wks after surgery. The pain is worse before the surgery. Still have different kind of pains in multiple spots. I should have done more research, informing myself that shoulder surgery is very difficult process to recover. I am not even sure if it will recover completely.
