4.5 weeks post op ( had both done now ), in pain! !

Had the op and after a week or so starting getting bad wrist pain, stiffness and swollen fingers. Been back to the surgeon for my post op review. He says rest elevate and ice and not to worry. That it can take longer to heal in some cases. Well I've had the other hand done 5 months prior so I'm able to compare. I didn't have all this pain and I haven't lifted anything heavy etc. I do manual work so I've been given an additional 4 weeks off.

It's hard to see at this point that I'll be free of pain and sure that it's worked. Feels worse now than it did beforesad

This requires an analysis of axactly how your symptoms have changed from before to after surgery to begin with. Read through the section of carpal tunnel net on how to assess problems after surgery. Dr J Bland

Hi. I had my left hand done 9weeks ago. I was getting everything you said. However its not as bad now but i do still get some pain in my wrist and lower part of my hand. My thumb is still stiff. As my whole hand is first thing in the morning. I cant lift anything heavy and do certain tasks without some pain sometimes. I was told it could take up to 6mths before everything settles.

Yes in a morning it's extremely stiff and sore . I didn't have this much wrist pain prior to the op. Hope within the next 4 weeks it settles down. I'm so tired with it, broken sleep.

Throughout the day it continues to pain me, think I'll have to give in and take painkillers as I was told to.

I felt tbe same only a week ago but there is a definite improvement now it's week 9. On the plus side my CT symptoms have gone in the hand i had surgery on. They wanted to do my right hand a couple of weeks ago. I'm glad i didn't as i want to make sure my left hand is ok first.

Hang in there it will get easier. I had 7weeks of work with it. Persevere with the hand exercises.
