Today marks 4 months since my last drink. Going from about 1 and a half liters of wine per night to none. Sometimes more and by this time of day on my days off from work I would already have a buzz going on. I feel much better, I am proud of myself, my husband is proud of me, I have lost 13lbs and fit into some of my favorite clothes again.
It could have all ended with a drink yesterday at a family get together at the beach. My Uncle offered me a glass of wine(my weakness) and persisted with "just taste it, it is so good" and "here have it, you really need to try this." I did tell him that I don't drink any more but he didn't seem to really care. Then I just said that I'm driving and my husband just bought me this new car and I would not like to take any risks in damaging it. He finally stopped insisting.
THAT WAS THE TOUGHEST SITUATION I'VE BEEN IN SO FAR!!!!

Thanks Kerry 😊. It was tough and it tore me up sitting there watching him drink 2 and a half bottles of wine in front of me but I knew that just one sniff or taste and I was done for. Hoping to get to the 6 month goal now

Congrats to you! That's so amazing and inspiring! I started this past Monday so I'm on day 3. I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm worried about social situations and how I'll handle that pressure. You did a fantastic job. I haven't really had the urge but I know it's still early. I can tell you I don't miss the guilt of knowing I shouldn't be drinking as much as I was. Keep up the great work and keep us posted!

Thanks Sarah. ?Congrats to you on your 3 days. You should be really proud!!! 🖐Hi 5 to you! I understand that guilt. I was hiding my drinking from my husband at least the full amount so he thought that I was only having a bottle of wine a night. If it was just that...the things I've done....NOT GOING BACK

Thanks Smile. I really appreciate your kind words. I wasn't hiding from hubby - he's a drinker. He doesn't get carried away but is not on the same journey as I am, so there will be temptation often. Like I said, one day at a time! Silver lining so far: already down a few lbs (probably just water but still pleased).

That's great! Especially being able so say no when someone is tempting you. I sometimes found simply saying, 'no thanks, I'm an alcoholic,' stopped people insisting you have a drink, quite effective! Keep going, it's worth it!

I haven't been able to tell people that yet. Only my husband and my sister so I just tell people that it is a "healthy lifestyle choice" and I do not care for it any more. Most people accept that easily and just say good for you. 😁

It's very effective john isn't it?
Tables are suddenly turned with people rushing to change the subject. Embarrassing pause in the conversation, the focus being on the person trying to persuade you to drink haha!

Hi smile
what an achievement, well done you. Of course you're proud of yourself, you deserve to be. Yes, your husband will be pleased with you and very proud.
Even better (if that's possible!), is the way you dealt with a very tricky situation. You resisted the temptation to have a drink, not easy I know.
Pamper yourself with something nice, you deserve it.
Nice to read such a positive post for a change
