    Congratulations Steve.

The key to dealing with impotence is to maintain oxygenation of the corpora cavernosa (the bit that causes the erection) from as soon after the op as possible - daily viagora or cialis (5mg) + a vacuum pump used at least every day. The nerves can take many months to repair from the op (neuropraxia is reversable) but in the mean time if the corpora cavernosa is not kept oxygenated, fibrosis becomes a problem along with collagen deposition and smooth muscle destruction all leading to venous leakage and preventing an erection from being able to be maintained.

If you are dead in spite of all efforts it is worth asking for Caverject - something I was very grateful for while I was getting to the point of being rigid enough on the pills alone for vaginal penetration.

    Good luck Steve.

I am at 4 months and I am still struggling.  Afternoon is dificult.  Forget about any alcohol, no control.

Still working on Kegel exercises,  getting old and frustrating.

    Did you do anything special.

    Way to go!!!

I tried to do kegels and maybe i did them and maybe i didnt, its  confusing on how to do them, i would go for walks and squeeze really hard while walking, dont know if it helped or if it was just time, but it was great to wake up in the morning with a dry pad, after a couple months and now couple pads a day and sometimes only one a day, hang in there and look for small signs of progress...

I regained continence three months post op. What worked best for me was no drinking of anything after say 7pm. That way there was no overnight leakage. During the day don't curtail your intake of liquids lest you end up starving your kidneys and creating yet another problem. It is natural to want to limit the intake of liquids in the day, but that is not the smart thing to do. After all, one day soon you'll want to return to drinking (non alcoholic liquids) as you did before the surgery.

    Good luck.
