4 months post of partial rotator cuff tear repaired

Hi there,

This is my 4 months post op rotator cuff repaired. Everything was going ok until I fell a slip in the shower on my 3 months post op. However, MRI did show nothing wrong with the repaired. the Dr told me not to worry so my PT did as it is still attached to bone but after 1 week of incident my recovery significally declined that my shoulder got stiff, sore and started to feel grinding and clicking on my shoulder. My ROM has fallen down too. Now I am struggling with 90 degree. Yesterday I went to see o another Specialist and that guy thinks I have a frozen shoulder need to take an injection to loosen up. Also he thinks exercise and stretching will not help, rather it makes worse. I am so depressed at the moment. I work as a Chef and very outing person ( do exercise and sports when I am off ).

Any suggestions and thought would be appreciated!!

Cheers. !

    Hi Hems

I would see how you are after the injection. A frozen shoulder would reduce your ROM significantly. As the the clicking and grinding this can happen with a good repair. The avdce re stretching and exercise sounds ominous but my OS advised no exercise with my arm just inceasing ROM and everyday activities. I was using bands and he stated this can make it worse so there are iffering views.

I appreciate how difficult it is but try to stay positive. Many of us have had trips and slips following RC surgery. I thought I had damaged mine several times but still doing ok.

    Good luck

Thanks Christine for taking a time to share your knowledge 🙏 The second Specialist, from whom I got advice thinks that exercise and stretches won't help my post op frozen shoulder unless I get a shot but the Phisio wants me to continue exercises. In fact , I did my surgery in overseas back home( due to my financial problem and family) and now I am here in Australia. I believe the surgeon did pretty good job though. Both surgeon and phisio over there told me that I have no problem and can continue the exercise here in Aus. So, I decided to get back here and I am seeing PT once or twice a week here. It seems like a long journey ahead.....
