I am 4 months post op it’s been a long haul! I am getting better but it’s slow I’m full weightbearing and do not use any aids but it still swells and hurts sometimes more than other. It’s not strong yet and can’t walk very far. I go to therapy 2 x a week and have exercises to do to build my leg up and lose the limp and get more motion. I had a synopsis screw removed 4 weeks ago and have been a bit better

But this morning I was doing my stretches therapist wants me to stand on the balls of my feet ...tippy toes I did and got a bad sharp shooting pain I grabbed onto the wall and it subsided but it feels weak and it’s a bit swollen I’m so scared I damaged something ...it seems like I tweaked something....has this happed to anyone before???? I’m a wreck and upset with myself

My advice would be to call your doc. I know that's what I would do. I hope you the best.

    Lisa,

Good for you for performing your ankle rehab exercises diligently. Yes, sometimes it is challenging and painful, but the reward is worth the discomfort.

It's hard to tell what went wrong when you performed the heel raise exercise, since with ankle injuries there are a lot of moving parts involved (both literally and figuratively).

If it were me, I'd rest the ankle for a day or two or until the discomfort and swelling subside. Then I'd work with easy exercises, and after a while, gingerly attempt heel raises again-- very carefully.

If you have lingering pain and a lot of doubts you should probably ask your therapist about it. They may recommend you see your health practitioner.
