4 weeks now. horrible night last night.

Hi guys another update.

4 weeks on 50mg and today has been amazing i felt 80% back to my normal self maybe 70% to be fair. 4 weeks ago i couldnt communicate with anyone and felt horrible but today ive been out with the wife chatting smiling having a laugh and went for a meal.

See my doctor for a review this morning and has told me to most of her patients take 6-8 weeks on this to feel really good but will start getting good days from week 3-4 and shes absolutely spot on. I want to jump for joy how good i feel today its such a relief although my stomach is still very nervous she said that will go in time but avoid sugary stuff and eat a bland diet in the week and have treat days.

Anyway just abit of advice about these tablets, i had a horrible night last night as i ran out of my normal brand and took lustral as my pharmacist only had them in and my side effects last night was horrible so i rushed to a different pharmacy to get my normal ones and feeling brilliant. Try take the same brand as it does effect you maybe not everyone but it did me.

    Hey,

Thanks for the updates, it really does help.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how long had you been suffering before taking the sertraline and was it an easy decision for you to make to take them?

      Hi there,

No i dont mind at all.

I started with anxiety when i turned 22 ive now just turned 27. I was really really ill had lots of tests and nothing showed up and the doctors thought anxiety so i was prescribed citlopram 20mg at 22year old and after 2 months i was fantastic so came off them after 6 month without any relapse untill a year ago when i couldnt handle it any longer social anxiety hit me out of knowere, obssesive thoughts, and just feeling ill all the time without explanation that anxiety feeling we get were we just feel so nervous and anxious 24/7.

I tried citlopram again 6 months ago but after 6 days was rushed to hospital with serotinin syndrome was in hospital 36 hours in total maybe more. Told myself im never going to get better and never take a tablet again but i just got worse so for 1 month i was prescribed sertraline and just starred at the box untill my wife gave me my courage to take them and ive never looked back nothing bad on side effects im now sleeping fantastic but still not 100% but that will come in time.

Thank you, that's really helpful. I'm so glad that things are on the up for you! Long may it stay that way.

It's so good to hear people's experiences, as although anxiety is so common it always feels like you are alone with the way that you are feeling.

It's knocked me for 6, mine has presented itself through health anxiety, and this morning was back at the doctors wired up to an ecg to check my heart as had breathing difficulties BUT obviously was all just my anxiety.

My doctor has been amazing and always been there for me but now he is insisting I take sertraline as I have no quality of life really.

I was just concerned that things get worse before better, I've got a really good (but stressful!) job and I need to be on the ball all the time, I am nearly coping now so hoping I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't experience the side effects 😓

definately, i remember when i first signed up to this forum i was worried that everyone would think i was a drama queen over how bad i'd been and that i was asking the wrong questions or too many etc !! every single person that i've spoke to on here have been so supportive and helpful. i went through a really bad patch of having bad thoughts and all the rest of it etc, found it really hard to concentrate, my anxiety and depression was worse than it's ever been and i really didn't know what was happening, i was scared to death but everyone helped me through it, just amazing :-)

so nice to hear success stories too, the people that have made it through the other side and also the people that are still on their journey, just totally inspiring for all of us :-)

Hi Scott!....So good to hear you've been feeling better!...Very interesting that Lustral made you feel bad. With me it's the generic (One was Dr Reddys) brand that makes me feel terrible!Lustral works beautifully.Had the same years ago with the generic of Effexor (Venlafaxine)...Made me feel ghastly!Anyway, onwards and upwards! All the best :-))

I think its because i started on the generic version and not the lustral but maybe it was just a bad night im not to sure. If i dont feel that buzz i got today, tomorrow or the next day then i will change to lustral. Its amazing to think these are supposed to be the exact same but so different in effects. Im still puzzled by it all lol
