4 weeks of hell then success.

Finally after 4 weeks of what felt to me like hell my increase to 225mg has kicked in.
I was on verge of giving up but the thought of weaning off then trying something else that might not work made me stick it out.
I am into week 5 and feeling much better. Still off work but will get there.

I logged in today to find a reason to keel going.
I have severe post natal illness. My son is nearly one. I tried citalopram for 5 months and got worse. I am also on 45mg of mirtazapine.
I started on ven 5 weeks ago. 5 days on 37.5mg then 19 days on 75mg and 12 days on 150mg. Since going on them I have had some good days and only side effect seems to be some fatigue but that may be the pnd. Today I feel very low.....I seem to be less anxious. I felt really good on monday.
I see my psychiatrist in 3 weeks when I suspect she will put me up to 225mg.
Did 150mg not help you ?
How long have you been on ven all together ?
Did you start getting days then back down ?

Hi Sarah. I have general a anxiety which is thought to be linked to physical disability. I had been on 75mg for many years which worked wonders but stopped working around Sept last year which may be linked to a deterioration in my physical abilities. Anyway docs increased to 150mg but after about 3 weeks of feeling hellish most days instead of persivering I had docs increase to 225mg.
I stuck with it as mentioned and am getting better.
With hindsight I had some good spells on 150mg but really dipped over Christmas but I think if I'd stuck with it, it would have kicked in fully.
On the 225mg my worst days were the week before it started kicking in.
Overall I would say if you're having some good spells it will work
Apparently after 6 weeks your body will be fully saturated with the drug and if it hasn't helped at that stage then it won't help.
Really hope this helps and that you get to put this behind you and enjoy the special time with your baby.

I have just started a new thread.
Feel very low and anxious. Can t stop crying. So scared this won t work. It is the psychiatrists last option.

Sarah. I feel so sorry reading what you are going through. I was really scared and thought I'd never get better but my doctor assured me that everyone does get better.
If the anxiety is lessening then I am sure the psychiatrist will find a solution for the mood swings.
Stay strong Sarah and let me know how things go.
Oh have you tried meditation. I thought it would be rubbish but it seems to help a bit.

It has been 13 days on 150 and I m tempted to just stop them. 5 weeks in total.
I m trying to stay strong but I feel so bad. Also I keep seeing horror stories.

Hi Sarah. At just about 4 weeks i was probably the worst i had been and felt desperate. I was for giving up but knew I'd have to phase off them then try something else which could take months so stuck with them. Now at just over 5 weeks I've had mostly good days but dipped yesterday and today bur not as bad as before.

I've been on ven since June and at 225 for 10 weeks. My anxiety has settled down but my mood is still so low, I have no motivation or energy. Waiting for a psych appointment as my gp can't prescribe higher dose

Luckily no weight gain but then I barely eat! I'm waiting for psych appointment as gp can't prescribe any higher and I get the feeling she wishes I'd just go away!

Can I just ask did you experience heightened anxiety prior to them kicking in ?

Hi Sarah, I know you're not asking me but my anxiety got worse at 225, it's just about settled 9 weeks in, but absolutely no lift in mood x
I've gone from taking 6 Buspar a day to either none or one

I am opposite to you my anxiety is higher but my mood has improved a bit.
Why are you on it ?
I am on it mainly for anxiety and moderate depression.

I'm on it for depression and anxiety plus I've got adhd so quite difficult to treat all three. I'm tired all day but can't nap, mood is still 'I don't care if I live or die'. Really frustrating, I keep thinking I'll reduce them but relief might be just around the corner x
