4 weeks post op Hemorrhoidectomy

Hi there,
Thought id share my experience from the surgery, to hopefully help others feel at ease about having it.
I had 1 internal and 1 external banding and 1 external removed surgically.
First and foremost, I wasn't given any indication of how long to expect pain/discomfort for, and had to persist to talk to the surgeon afterwards, which was all of a 2 minute chat of "we did this and this"
Pain was and has been mild, apart from BM which was horrible, this lasted for the first 2 weeks or so, and now is uncomfortable, followed by laying down for an hour to help ease the pressure/swelling.
The external banding was pointless and had 0 effect, the internal appears to have worked relieve pressure. External surgically removed is still healing, just unsure how long it takes!
Diet wise I'm back to eating my normal food with an increase in fruit and veg, and of course drinking 2-3 litres of water a day helps.
After the second week, I started feeling a sharp pain when moving or having a BM, not sure what this is, but feels like its where the incision was made, so maybe just slow healing.
Still off work to this point, as its physical and don't want to risk the additional strain, but want to be back in the new year, as its getting stupid with how slow the healing is.
If anyone has experienced the sharp pain and knows what it can be, please let me know, or any questions, I'm happy to answer what I can.
Thanks.

but after pooping for the first time my a**hole got really swollen and i feel like my skin tag is back and even bigger!! did that happen to you??
i did the surgery only because of how the skin tags looked now i am worried

Hi, that was the same for me for a good month or so after the surgery. I'm now at 6 weeks post op, and still get swelling (mainly due to the failed banding)
I feel the surgery has benefited one side, but will have to have it again on the other if i want full relief from this horrible crap.
You'll find the swelling is persistent for a while, dependant on how much was cut away, i've read it can take many months for everything to settle down, just make sure you're keeping your fruit and veg intake up, as well as plenty of water throughout the day as well, hopefully things will improve for you!
