Hi fellow hippies

i am off back to hospital tomorrow  for an emergency appointment with my surgeon. I am 4 weeks post op yesterday ( Feb 16 th )

and part of my wound is oozing yellow stuff. It is still quite sore the whole length down too. It was never like this the first time. The first time I asked for melting stitches and never had an issue. This time they put 64 staples in me and I end up with an infection. rolleyes

I will keep you posted on what happens tomorrow.

Hop op all are healing well

Not a great sign but hopefully something a course of antibiotics will fix Hailea.  Good luck tomorrow x

      Hi CelsB

I would be more worried if it were green and I didn't feel well but better to get it looked at than to take a chance and leave it. I think this proves my theory that melting stitches are much better than staples. confused

I had staples with no complications, but what I do not like is the way my scar looks like a zipper!  And that will never go away.

Mine looked quite nice the first time, but the second time he's been and cut me in exactly the same place, and another load of staples, it doesn't look so nice.

      Hi Susan

i have every faith in my op team. These things can happen. I am just being cautious before something really might go wrong. I am sure they will fix anything that might be wrong.

      Hi Alice

      thank you

I am fine in myself. I just do not want to give something a chance to go wrong. At week 4 I know for a fact I should not still be leaking. I can only put it down to them using staples. Nothing else so I will be mentioning this when I see them in the morning.

Hi Hailea.  It is so unfortunate what has happened to you..I had staples loads but am also fairly tall.5 7..But was worried at the time that the staples wouldn't hold...I was told that I also had internal stitches.  It was a wonderful relief when they were taken out as had started to pull....I am so sorry you have had to del with this as well as recovering form your op.  It will be interesting for all of us what your surgeon tells you.

      Best Thoughts.

This is my first time with staples. It will be my last I trust stitches. I asked for stitches they didn't listen but it is now on my records at the hospital. I did say to my surgeon today if staples were not invented what would you have closed the wound with? He said stitches. So I said in that case then. You should have done as I asked and like last time stitched me up. I know he said it was oozing. I even said you could have just stitched the OK bits and stapled the bad bits. I am 5' 10" so yeah taller than most women.

When the nurse took my staples out there was issues where the skin did split. So I have had to put my foot down and say no more staples EVER.

I don't care what they think is best for me. They have to learn to listen. confused

      Hi Graham

yep fraid so. I am just hoping it is nothing. But we both know I should be fully healed by now at week 4 so if I am still leaking stuff it has to be checked out. I will post once I am home and find out what is causing it and if it is a problem or not. 👍

      Hi Gail

I would rather get it checked out than risk issues later that I  had a chance to stop.
