40 mgs/side effects/hoax cures?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Does anyone have experience of sexual dysfunction problem after being on 40 mgs/day Citalopram? Is there an alternative anti-depressant without this known side-effect? Is the 3-Minute Depression Cure a hoax? I have found 40 mgs helps reduce major depression but now have some dysfunction problems which I hope will vanish \"after\" Cipramil.

Isnt it another one of the side effects that wears off after a few weeks?

Have you tried viagra? Or is that not allowed while taking citalopram?

Thank you Tiny Tears and Melbi for your replies. I am lucky to have an understanding partner (Bree) but it is very frustrating to get turned on, maintain an erection, but just can't come. (Viagra would not help) I get the dry throat, minor shaking and all the usual liveable side effects, but this impotence really eats away at self confidence, boosts depression and makes me wonder if the medication is not counter-productive because of this.

Good luck to you both. Look after you.

Rather than trying to achieve orgasm Breezman, why not just enjoy the closeness with each other?

Forget sex! Cuddle up, enjoy each other and relax.

Without becoming too ermmm (well too)......................

You can always satisfy your partner in other ways (for now) and if the pressure is off you and you are not thinking about it - you never know what might happen.

Even without medication many men experience what you are experiencing - then it becomes a viscious circle, you become anxious, the problem gets worse.

Did you take a look at the alpha brainwaves links?

LOL I should be getting (the word has gone) paid lol for boosting their custom.

That is bugging me now - I know what the word is but it just won't come out!

Help me out here someone pleaseeeeeeeeee!

Anyway, I definitely would suggest you stop worrying about your inability to reach an orgasm and just enjoy the intimacy for now.

Get the oils out and give each other massages :D

    Hi Melbi,

Thank you for the advice and the love you share. I could not get the alpha brainwaves links to respond to my Macintosh computer. Not sure why, but am continuing to try.

As for the rest, it is frustrating because my partner is so loving and understanding but I feel like I'm letting her down, even though she does not beat me up about it. So it is in my head, not hers.

Thank you for your response. The world is a better place for you being in it. xx

    Hi Breezman,

I'm having a similar problem to you. I'm a happily married woman but have been suffering from crippling anxiety and depression. I've been on this drug for a few weeks now, 40 mg and am starting to feel better in myself.

But in the bedroom I just can't \"get there\" - it's very unsettling and unpleasant. On balance though I'd rather live with this than the full on symptons of depression which I was suffering. However, the prospect of several months or even a year or so on this drug with this side effect is depressing in itself.

Does any one have experience of this side effect easing off or is it going to be a fact of life as long as I'm on this medication?

    Thanks

    Suzie

    Hi to you both

    See your doctor.

Increased sweating, shakiness, difficulty focusing, difficulty sleeping, agitation, nervousness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight changes, being aware of your heart beating, 'pins and needles', difficulty concentrating, anxiety, confusion, runny nose, sexual difficulties, indigestion, stomach pain, feeling faint, and difficulties in passing water [u:779f71079d][b:779f71079d]Speak with your doctor if any of these become troublesome [/b:779f71079d][/u:779f71079d]

Hi SuziQ, thanks for your reply. I agree, I'd rather not have the crippling depression, but does it have to be at this cost? My partner accepts this situation lovingly, but I feel I am letting her down even though we enjoy each other.

I live in hope that I might find a way to get off the chemicals and get it all together.

Melbi, \"commission\"!!! It's been bugging me too, and it just popped into my head. You should be getting commission for 'promoting' the Alpha Brainwaves\" info.
