40mg feel weird !

I've recently increased to 40mg from 30mg citalopram. I've noticed my anxiety is sky high in the mornings, but its because I feel like im 'spaced out. I can't think straight, its as though all my emotions are numbed. I keep thinking im slowly losing my mind and I feel so scared I won't return to my normal self. Could this just be the side effects?

Im also taking Promethazine which was prescribed by my mental health team.

Can anyone offer words of hope?

    I'm not surprised you feel spaced out. Didn't know until I looked it up that Promethezine is a 1st generation antihistamine. Apparently Citalopram also has antihistamine like qualities. I took 30mg Citalopram with Hydroxyzine which is another 1st generation antihistamine several years ago, but when I went back on 20mg Citalopram two years ago my doctor would not prescribe Hydroxyzine because of the fear of heart irregularities. 1st generation antihistamines cause sedation and drowsiness combined with 40mg Citalopram with its antihistamine qualities as well,I'm not surprised you feel spaced out. Perhaps you should be checking with your Dr. wether it's alright to take them together. Good luck.

      I was under my local Mental health team who prescribed both the meds together. I do have my doubts over the promethazine though!
