41/2 months since replaced TKR...now stiff after appendix surgery

My replacement left TKR was going so well and then last week i had my appendix out and a belly button hernia repaired. my surgeon wont let me work out for 6 weeks until the internal stitches heal. I even asked about the recumbent bike and he said no.

The last couple of days my knee has felt very stiff. I am still on antibiotics as the appendix burst. I am very nervous about the knee especially the stiffness as ive had 2 left TKRs in the last year. Anyone with a similar experience or suggestions?

I would definitely follow the advice of your physician/surgeon..... Also, why TWO LTKR in one year?

My 2nd TKR was because the the knee cap snapped off and was on the side of my knee..plus the leg was on an angle. i could not raise my leg and walking was difficult.

You've been through a lot, but you need to get over the latest surgery first. You don't want to risk damaging those newly sutured tissues. Maybe walk gently as much as you can, short distances frequently rather than going for distance. I think walking and doing what you can indoors should help keep the joint mobile until you're cleared for more exercise. Might it be worth letting your knee surgeon know? Maybe they, or a physio, could give you advice on gentle exercise that won't pull on any of the abdominal muscles.
