Hello everyone, well I just got dianosed about two month ago, it all started with a weird sensation in my throad, so they found short barretts with no dysplasia thanks god, the doc put me on Dexilant 60mg been taking it for a month now and since then I been feeling kind of weird like very cool and a little weak. I raised my bed about 8 inches, eating healthy like crazy, never smoke a cigar, never drank a beer in my life, no alcohol period, worry about the long term of this decease, and freaking out about getting cancer later on on my life very worry about my two little kids not having a dad around. After almost a month taking this medication I still feel the same weird sensation on my throad, not sure if this is normal ???

Hi  Juanm its a shock i know i had never heard of barrets andi also have a hiatus hernia ,im 50 non smoker non drinker and im not overweight i also have a job that keeps me on my feet all day so i wasnt expecting this.

Its taken me a lot of weeks and a lot of discussions with fellow sufferers to get my head round this i felt scared as i have children and grandkiddies and so much to be healthy and some stories are quite scary but i know by looking after ourselves with diet and meds we should live to a ripe old age.

I havnt found hospital any help but after talking to one of my GP (some of them are cluless) she has put my mind at rest ,stresss isnt good for acids,i still get pains which worry me but im getting better ,take care and go get some answeres

Have you talked to your doctor again?  I think our stories are different.  I was having bad heartburn at night.  I tried antacids with no help.  I went to the Dr and he put me on Omeprazole (Prilosec).  Have been on it since last July.  There are side effects for the medicine but I hear that they are not as bad as getting cancer.  When I had an endoscopy they found barrett's.  Some of the things I've been doing.  I take manuka honey (from New Zealand) -- supposed to have a rating of 10 or higher, DGL licorice, chamomille tea and green tea.  I'm also trying to lose weight, which can't hurt.

Something else that is supposed to be good for Barrett's is strawberry.  The health food store has strawberry extracts.

Juanm  I tought you dont know about Barrx Halo 360  and  couse you worried so much there is this chance for us if Barrett get worse . This is an silent desease i had no symptoms years ,no heartburn before and no heartburn now and there are people with heartburn always they have esophagitis ,ulcers but not this complication like Barrett . this is very strange . i have only a discomfort like a lump on my throat   sometimes not always . About four years ago when i felt so i thought it is the tyroid . Last year hurt my stomach and i did an endoscopy and surprise ..... gastritis and Barrett . take care of you .
