    Hi nae nae,

warm welcome to this hippie forum ...

May I ask why you need a 3rd Hip replacement on same side? The first ne you got was when you were 20 and now you are 49 ... that is almost 30 years elapsed - did it need replacement due to wear and tear? when was the last time you had your thr -

I am so sorry that you have to go through it again -

Please, if you want, tell us more about yourself ...

    big warm hug

    renee

Sorry Nae Nae , had 2 on one side and 1 on the other so I feel for you but mine were in my late 49,s , 50,s for OA . You need an MRI or similar to see what's going on I should think - I can appreciate even the vague thought of a fourth op is very off putting - my best wishes xx

    Wow Nae nae,

I had my 1st and only THR 2 weeks short of my 20th birthday, right after 3 semester exems - had to go party and a drunk driver hit me head on and get this, driver got out of the wreck and ran away from the scene. Our differences build from there, instead of living a good life I had to hold back..wait missing the big part, in 1977 I did not get a metal hip. Doctors did a closed reduction, so from 77 to 2000 I was grinding bone on bone. But I still liked to play B ball and go dancing, the Darvocets helped but just took the edge off. Lots of things I wanted to try worried me so I feel I didn't fulfill myself, sounds like you did, I'm happy for you. Sounds like you are one of those driven people who won't let a little thing like health issues hold you back, stories like yours inspire me to try harder. I know you needed the support but it turns out you've given me the support, thank you.

Hi Nae nae' so sorry to hear of your problems, especially when you were so young. I've had 7 ops on the one hip. A hip screw replaced by a thr, then 2 further revisions. the last one 11 weeks ago when everything was taken out including the stem. However all the other sugeries and problems came from a formation of a psuedo tumour[ non cancerous] around the hip.Unfortunately mine wasn't diagnosed for over 18 months, hence so much tissue and muscle damage and was caused by the cobalt chromium head corroding with the titanium stem. My consultant is the leading guy dealing with problem and failed hips and told me that they have found that everyone who has a revision has a psuedo tumour of some size. Most have no symptoms, mine was extreme, and started with pain and a limp. I don't want to freak you out but would really encourge you to get a MRI with MARS sequencing to look at the soft tissue as soon as possible. It wouldn't show up on an X ray. My local hospital didn't have a clue and I only got help when I got to a specialist hospital. I really hope its nothing too drastic, but wanted to put it out there so people are aware of the possibility. Let us know how you get on. Much love. X

    Hi there

Another kiwi. Have had 3 right THR (2 of which were revised cups due to loosening) on one side. First 1 at 28, which was 25 years ago.

Just wanted to say that there is new technology in the wings ie totally new hip socket made from titanium using the 3D technology in Christchurch.

My left THR is 14 years old and it's a metal on metal. Back to see my OS for some test results - I've got weird symptoms with it.

Be interested to see how you get on 😊

Hi, I'm new to this forum thing. I've had my current hip replacement for about 16yrs now. I've been having more and more pain from my hip over the last few years. My doctor has palmed me off saying its Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome??? I guess you might be able to help me find out when I will know that my hip needs doing again?? Is it a case of when its done I'll know or do I have to keep badgering my doc until they look into my pain properly? I'm 36 now so don't wanna move to quickly into getting it done again invade I never have 1 as good as this 1 has been. Any advice would be amazing.
