49 Efgr 54

I just got my test results showing a low efgr. My creatinine. Sodium, and potassium are all at food levels! I do not have high blood pressure nor do I have diabetes! But my doctor says I am at stage 2 kidney disease and says we will just continue to monitor my serum creatinine! I don’t understand isn’t there any follow up measures she should be requesting! Like urine sample or ultra sound of my kidneys! I don’t want to just sit around and weight for something bad to happen!

Please advise if anyone has had a similar experience!

Thank you

I'm 57, have lower than normal BP & no diabetes. After bladder cancer in 2007 I had CKD stage 3. No blood or urine tests but I did have ultrasounds annually. After 11 years I'm having kidney problems but I don't know that further testing would have been of help. It seems that my new issue came on suddenly. If the doctor you're seeing isn't a urologist I think you should see one to ease your mind, learn about CKD & have a relationship for future reference. Good luck!

Tanks, did your doctor check for protein in your urine? I'm not sure if it would be normal to do that with eGFR and creatinine in the range yours are in, but you might want to ask. Otherwise, monitoring your renal function seems like a normal course of action to me
