4cm cyst left ovary

Posted , 5 users are following.

I woke up Monday with an instant heavy period. I ignored it went in and by evening I was major cramping. Not typical. Waited it out till next morning and has what appeared to be fresh bright red blood still. Called Obgyn. Scheduled Ultrasound. came back with a 2.2 X4cm cyst near left ovary. She did ca 125 came back at 10. She said repeat ultrasound in 4 weeks if still there she wants to remove and send to pathology. Omg what is going on? I'm scared, I'm 42, still regular menstration. Could this be ovarian cancer? I do have back pain and pelvic pain. Back pain just started today. Anyone have anything like this? She said it was a simple cyst. But why pathology? Obgyn did use oblong in shake, not sure if there is any significance there. Any feedback or support welcomed.

When are you getting yours removed? Please do let me know how that goes. I have to wait a month to repeat ultrasound. If it's still there, obgyn wants to remove. Who is performing you surgery your obgyn? I've read to go to a obgyn that specializes in oncology for removal. But not sure if that is necessary.

10 for a ca 125 test is Norma the range is between 1-35 so please don't worry there 😊😊😊

The obgyn said it was normal, but all I've been reading said a CA125 isn't reliable for a women who menstrate. Thank you for responding. I know very few people (actually nobody) who has had a ovarian cyst. More questions keep arising and I feel alone with this issue.

Try not to panic. The great majority of cysts are benign.

I was 49, regular very heavy periods. Usually bright red first day. Had several times where entire cycle expeled all at once when I stood up. Very bloated, was told all normal when approaching menopause. Bah!

Went to Gyne and in middle of exam he bolted out the door. When he came back, told me to get my affairs in order as I had huge tumors on both ovaries. Ordered a CA 125. Came back off the charts, never did get a number. (Yours is quite low though.) He told me I had cancer and wrote a prescription for Tomoxifen.

Turned out not to be cancer, but severe endometriosis with huge benign simple cysts. Lost over 10lbs. in surgery. :-) All cysts are sent to pathology as a precaution. Better to confirm benign and not overlook anything.

Sounds like your Dr. is being thorough. Cysts are normal part of our cycle and usually go away on their own. Simple cysts are usually fluid (blood) filled that for some reason did not dissolve like they should. She wants to give yours a chance to go away but is monitoring. All good. If it does not, it is fairly small and should be easy to remove.

Hope this eases some of your fears. Best of luck. Let us know how you're doing.

Thank you. I appreciate anyone's input. I personally know very little about ovarian cysts and I'm looking for others who have experienced this also.

A pathology is kind of like a biopsy. They take a sample of the tissue. I wouldnt go crazy yet. It could be nothing. There are just dotting there i's n crossing thier t's. Just checking and making sure it's nothing serious. Just might have to be removed thats all. My pup they wanted to do that to her liver, but shes ok i felt no reason for it at all being her age n the life we gave her. Shes happy n no pains but shes a dog. In your case u have many yrs to go do what they ask this way when your in ur golden yrs u have no pains. I wish they would take my women parts out due 2 early metopause and the pain i have delt with most my life, but my OB/GYN say even if they remove my ovaries i will still have my pain, it suks to not have a period but daily feel like i was...

I wish I could offer you information. I am literally 1 week into this myself. It was like an overnight think, I woke up with pain and heavy bleeding, 3 days later ultrasound showed 4cm on left ovary. I think you are doing the right thing reaching out to see if anyone can offer support or tell us what questions to ask. good luck and read all you can to make yourself knowledgable. I wrote down questions and called my dr for some answers. That's all I can suggest to you as this my beginning as well.

What doctor suggest u ??do u have any issue in ur periods too like mine is late ...last one I had on August 8th after that I didn't get my periods too and I was very regular before

My doctor took blood and checked for infection, and did CA125 test. Both came back in normal range. My period was not late. It was heavy with unusual cramping. It was a normal duration, but mild cramping still. DR. Said to repeat ultrasound in 4 weeks, if still there removing by surgery. Can I ask your age? I have read that ovarian cysts are common and less dangerous in younger women.

I do think you are relatively young, and are defiantly in your child bearing years. Which are both in your favor. What is your Obgyn suggesting? I actually am considering another opinion. 4 weeks of observations was what was recommended. If this is something else, I don't want to wait 4 weeks and then another 2 weeks if I'm lucky to get on the books for surgery. Hell no, that's 7 weeks for something to get worse. I wish more people with experience wound chime in, I'm just in the beginning of being notified of a 4cm cyst. I have many questions but will share every step with you.

I would defiantly call tomorrow. The blood test should be back. Also ask any question that has been going through your mind. Have a pen and paper to write down what she says. It's very easy to get nervous and forget key words. but I know there is nothing that truly takes your mind off this right now. But I did get a piece of advice from someone. They said something along the lines of, I don't have anything to worry about yet. Most things we over think. Until we get these Cystes out we won't truly know what is going on. I don't know if you believe in a higher power but I turned to my higher power for strength mentally & physically because I'm a wreck just like you and need help to get through this, I don't know you, but I'll be here for you and we can help each other stay strong.

I went to the doctor today soo she gave me 2 option for my cyst first is provera to get my periods first and then she will see my cyst after 4 months in ultrasound or birth control pills for 4 months..soo i m taking provera...anyone has any idea after taking provera when I can hope my periods to start??

I have no idea how long before you can expect your period, that would be a question for the prescribing dr or nurse. It sounds like your dr is taking a wait & see if she is giving you 4 months before ultrasound. Good luck with the provera. Let us know when you do start getting your period.
