Hi all

On my 4 th night of 10mg,although I ve shaved a bit off,so it's probably 5-8 mg. Was trying to avoid side effects but to no avail!!.. Mainly stomach pains, nausea and tiredness. Was wondering whether to have a night off?.. Thought appreciated x

    Hi

You should possibly check with your doctor about this. I am no doctor but I think it sounds quite unusual to have stomach pain on such a small dose. They might change the medication or suggest alternate days for a while. Hope you get sorted soon.

      Hi

thanks for reply. I do have IBS,maybe that makes it more likely to affect my stomach.... Yes,very low dose! Have escaped the other side effects that many people have. May try half tonight... I was on seroxat years ago and from memory I skipped a night and the side effects went!.. Hope you are well.

SHOULD LET YOUR DOCTOR KNOW. WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING ARE SIDE EFFECTS.

Best just to stick with it. I was the same on 10mg when i started and felt sick everymorning for about a week. Had to take a week off work, but it settled down quickly after this. This is the casre for most people, its just a matter of coping for a week or 2 while the tabs get into your system. I also read somewhere that changing your dose daily isnt a good thing to do. I really doubt shaving some of fyour tablet will help the side effects as at the end of the day they are still in your system whether 8mg or 10mg, plus it will take longer for your body to get used to them, therefore probably siffereing the side effects longer too...xxxc

      Hi

Thanks for reply. I think you could be right.. 8 mg won't make much difference!!.. Think it was fear that made me do it..stomach has got a bit better as the days gone on today,so I think I ll get on with it tonight!..don't know if it's coincidence but I feel a bit better anxiety wise today!.. Fingers crossed!.... Odd how something to help with anxiety makes you feel anxious just taking it!!...x

NO MY DR TOOK ME OFF 10/24.   I AM STILL TIRED, BUT I CAN EAT SOMETHINGS I WAS ON IT FOR 10 MONTHS BEFORE THE DOCTOR FIGURED OUT WHAT WAS WRONG.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WHAT I SAID, IT WAS THE TRUTH OF HOW IT EFFECTED ME. SO THEY SHOULD UNDERSTAND UNLESS THEY ARE NOT ADULTS.

Hi Helen. I'm also fairly new to Citalopram. On my third week and up to 30mg. The side effects you have should start to level out soon. I had that too and dreaded going up in dosage but the side effects didn't get worse, they got better. Don't miss a dose as the drug has to build up in your system. If things are really bad you may need a different med, but chances are the side effects will settle.

Another point is that everyone is chemically different from each other, so what works for one person may not work for another. Unfortunately it's trial and error with these types of drugs, but the good thing is that you will find a drug that works for you, and you will get better.
