5 days Post Op and feeling ok.

Hi guys.

Monday pm was my op, Weds pm home. Taken it easy for past 2 days in my bedroom coming down only to be sociable and for physio check.

It's done me good to stay out of the way because I tend to 'do' stuff when I'm bored or see it needs doing!

My hip is sore but only occasionally, pain killers and rest usually help. I found out that I was glued and not stitched or stapled.

Nurse and physio are happy with my exercises too, they will return next Monday & Weds respectively.

Going to be a good girl and let my family take over the cooking this weekend.

I'll be back for a catch up when I'm taking a breather.

All the best

Westie 😊 (aka Anna)

Well done Anna good to hear you are behaving. I am suddenly becoming more flexible and realised I had crossed my legs, very quickly put a stop to it

Ann, crossing legs is something I do more than I thought I did. Trying hard to keep it to my feet only, but sheesh... Old habits...

    Hi Westie

Glad to know all is ok. I'm glued too and went without a dressing for the first time today (day15) and all is well. Keep up with your exercises and you'll soon be back on your feet. Xx

    Way to go 😃

Do steer clear for a bit. I tend to be like that, so I did. Went well enough, but resting up is better 😉

Hi Anna, may I ask where you live?  I am under the impression that here in Norwich the surgeons staple the incision.  I would much prefer to be superglued!  I was heartened to hear that you were discharged so soon after the op and are making such good progress.  As for your family taking over, this will do them, as well as you a power of good.  I don't think we girls get as much appreciation as we should sometimes.  Since my diagnosis in March my husband gets out of his chair as soon as I do and insists on helping me with everything whether I like it or not!  Your message has cheered me up, I get a bit fed up of hearing all the stories about pain, lack of sleep, etc etc.  may you continue to improve and be back to full health as quickly as possible.

Hello Anna I am not in your area but in my hospital different surgeons used a variety of closures so think it is a surgeon preference. To cheer you up I am not in pain and my lack of sleep is not hip or op related. Doing well and flexibility increasing daily

      Xx

Hi Jennifer. I live in southend. I do believe it is preference of choice per surgeon. I just didn't know how it would happen as we hadn't discussed this. I also lost nearly 2 stone before op which has made an impact to my mental attitude. I don't have trouble or issues sleeping on my back because I broke my back 4 years ago and had no choice but sleep on it. Now it comes naturally.

I wake about 3 and again at 6ish for a 'wee' break but this is the time others in house wake up.

Hope this info is useful to others.

      Best wishes Westie😊

Jennifer you may get fed up of hearing about other people pain and sleepiness night's but to some people this forum is ideal because they don't have any support except for being able to chat to people on this forum, I my self found everyone is so friendly and offers support when you have worries don't forget when you have had your hip done you may be coming to this forum for support so I think a little compassion is needed

Hi Anna, way to go .... It is not easy to let others take over but you have the right attitude - I almost want to say : you deserve it ...

I am sure your family is happy to take care of you too ... take care and have a good night ....
