so after 5 months of rehab after 3 rd surgery i had a big movement the other day , so nearly popped out front ! It didnt come out thankfully but scared the hell out of me ... had rough night and was sore , the next day i was bruised and swollen in front of thigh .
last night i had a huge burning feeling from my ribs down my side ,bottom to outside of knee to ankle and heel , had to take some stronger pain relief .
Anyone else had something like this or know what it is ?

Hello Angela
I think its time to see the orthopedic surgeon again for a check up. I also have had a pretty rough time with 3 hip replacements, the last one from a faulty hip and I developed metal poisoning and metal fragments caused a massive tumor. I have not experienced your situation but lots of other issues and it is important that you get this checked out as it sounds serious.

Hello Angela your experience sounds horrific! what caused the movement? I am very careful as I am terrified that happens to me. I have had two hip replacements one just before Xmas last year the other in April this year. I am still recovering from both!
I had a bad experience myself I thought I was doing well after visiting my daughter, we had a great few days I was walking around the shops and going to the gym, I hasten to add I didnt do what I would normally do. After I got home I found I couldnt get out of bed I got up during the night to use the toilet and had terrible pain so bad I couldnt go back to bed! I had to sleep on recliner which caused more problems my legs swelled so bad I got a big water blister on the side of my leg. I went to my doctor had xray and everything was in place, I was given naproxen to calm things down Doctor said I had overdone it, anyway after that calmed down I got similar pain down my leg that you had, it was excruciating burning and the feeling of hot pins, I went back to Doctor and he said it was nerve pain from the surgery, which I thought was strange as it was a few weeks after surgery, I was given PREGABALIN which I am advised to stay on for another couple of months, it took a while to kick in but now its much better, I hope I dont need to take these forever! But I wouldnt like that pain to come back. I am having physio and doing my exercises at home but to me its taking forever but good thing is its slowly improving doctor has referred me to the gym so hopefully it will help. I hope you have no more problems, and have a speedy recovery but if in doubt see your doctor take care
kindest Regards
Cyndey xx

i see my surgeon on Monday and have e mailed him with my concerns ? Hopefully i can get some answers , it could be nerve with the burning ? but that movement was a big one if i hadnt of stopped whatever i was doing i think it would of came out again ! really bruised and swollen in front thigh .THANK GOD it stayed i do not want it to come out again is way to painful and it will put me back to the start ... ive had this going on for over a year now .
your body tells you when to take it easy ah or if you over do things , but sometimes i feel the surgeons or doctors just do not listen and they think your just lying about the pain .
my3 rd surgery was april 2
i am moving really well and doing lots of walking and my exercises and just started with physio this week , i just want to get back to some normality
thanks

Hi ANGELA
i think you probably experienced a sub luxation. its where the ball nearly comes out but sounds like you were pretty close to it popping out again. YOU MUST follow hip precaution especially after so many dislocations. all the soft tissues around the joint have taken a serious beating! If need be wear a hip brace but whatever you do dont let it dislocate again it you will be back to square one again .
Sounds as if you got away with this one . Give the hip some TLC ! REST AND ICE AND ELEVATE WHEN YOU CAN

I really understand. My revision hip dislocated 6 times so I have beaten you! I think I hold the world record!,
The mental suffering is immense and stress and worry really make everything seem worse. I was doing way too much and my muscles were just not keeping the hip in . My last dislocation was boxing day last year so I am hopeful that it wont happen again. The pain as you know is hell and all that leaves mental scars as well. Just keep taking baby steps you have a lot of healing to do do both physically and mentally but you HAVE got through all this so congratulate yourself for that . I honestly thought I was going to end up in a wheelchair but i can walk and still go for gentle rides on my beautiful horse.

yes its been one hell of a year is crazy i dislocated boxing day 2 the 3 rd one . Yes def hard and yes baby steps , this last near miss scared me so gone on the defence again 😦 .
It is good to see others have had similar experiences
I did talk to one lady who was in a wheel chair and she had 5 operations and 9 dislocations ! I WAS SHOCKED
i ride horses 2 and was told never to ride again which broke my heart , i have not sold them , i may still be able to in a year or more gently
thanks for the support

I am sorry you've had yet another episode. With the swelling and bruising it sounds like you nay have torn or injured a newly healed muscle but it was strong enough to keep the joint intact. Thank God. I would adhere to strict hip precautions until you see your surgeon. No bending or twisting. I am doing aqua therapy and my hip is responding well to it Finally feeling a little stronger after 6.5 months and 3 revisions in 8 months. Praying for you. Deborah

I would really keep off that leg at the moment , give it a rest use your crutches for a few days. I understand you want to test it out but for now i would not push it , allow the healing to happen at its own pace. Revisions take much longer to recover from , I used crutches for about a year after my left hip revision and now its great x
