5 months after partial knee replacement and still have pain when walking.

Hi All. Whilst I know that there is no "normal" I am depressed that after almost five months past medial partial knee I cannot walk without pain. I have no pain when sitting but getting going after sitting is a nightmare, I need a walking stick. I am sleeping better and at last being in bed is not a chore but as soon as I stand and start walking that is weight bearing I am in pain. It goes within an hour of taking paracetamol but is back again four hours later.
i don't want to keep taking tablets. Has anyone else experienced this at five months?
I can straight fully and have excellent ROM at about 135+. I exercise with a personal trainer twice a week to build up muscle and also do,it at home and ride a static bike.
I just don't seem to be able to walk for very long. Anyone any ideas please? I am getting very depressed. Forgot to,say I had the same op on the other knee last June and although it still isn't pain free (I now have OA in the knee cap) by this time I wasn't taking any pain relief.
thanks in anticipation of any replies.

I rely thought it would feel better than this by now. Been told it will take a year. Guess we just have to be patient. X

Hi Debs
I think we have spoken before, in the early days as it were😏. There aren't many partial knees on here so it's hard to see how partials get on. My physio said as he treats more partials now than he used to and is seeing a pattern of partials experiencing far more pain than was originally thought we would. My surgeon originally told me three months to recover, what a joke ! One year after my first Knee I still get pain when walking and he has now found OA in my kee cap.
I am really struggling with my second knee, so so, stiff after sitting even for thirty minutes.
like you my scar is painful to touch although apparently it looks amazing (doctors words😊
i too thought it would be better by now, knowing how much effort I have put into recovery, I thought I would be skipping! It's also really discouraging when relatives, friends and neighbours all seem to know someone who has no pain and are doing marvellously.
Hopefully that will be us one day Debs😀.
On an aside my surgeon at my one year review now said it can take two years - the goal posts keep moving.
Good Luck and good rcobery debs. X

Hi Tricia,
I don't know if this helps but my wife had a PKR and had almost no pain. Just a few pain tabs right after surgery then nothing.
Was walking around like new in a few weeks.
Only problem is that it got infected twice and had to be removed and now has a spacer in preparation for TKR.
The doctor was really disappointed in having to remove the PKR since he said it looked so good.
