5 months of tongue pain

Hello,

About 5 months ago I burnt my tongue pretty badly on an aeroplane when I had to quickly drink boiling cup noodle because we were experiencing turbulence and I didn't want it to fall on me. I had a pretty bad red spot on my tongue for about a week after that.

Ever since then, I've had a very sensitive tongue that constantly feels fuzzy and slightly painful. It will go through cycles of having a red gash in the middle, the gash will get smaller over a few days, it will disappear completely, and then it will reappear the next day, only to go through the same weekly cycle. Acidic, hot, vinegary, and spicy food all upset it, so I've tried to limit these.

Initially the Dr thought it was a vitamin B or other deficiency, so I did a full blood test, but my results came back perfectly fine. Then they thought it was a fungal/candida issue because my tongue was quite white, but two separate anti-fungal medications (a lozenge and an oral cream) made no improvements. Now I've finally got an appointment with an oral specialist surgeon, but it's quite a while away, so I'm just trying to see if anyone has any ideas on what is happening and why it won't go away. I've noticed my drinking water becomes quite murky as well after I take a few sips, and If I touch even a drop of alcohol it goes incredibly dry and sore. It's as if the nice mucous membrane is completely gone.

It goes through a cycle of having a gash, that lasts for about 6 days, it gradually gets smaller, heals fully, my tongue will feel fine, then the next day it will have a tiny spot again and it'll get larger and more sore.

Attached is a picture of one of the gashes.

Background info:

24 Male

183cm, 75kg

Workout 5-6 times per week

Eat a low carb diet, pretty healthy food, lot's of greens and roughage

Don't drink often, now I'm not drinking at all due to the tongue issue

Eat a lot of probiotic foods like yogurt, cruciferous vegetables, etc

I did start a new probiotic pill around the time the tongue issue started, but I can't see why that would cause the issue.

I have hypothyroidism but I've been on the same medication for that for 7 years. I'm on no other medication, I just take my thyroid medicine and my probiotic every day.

If anyone could help that would be great!
