Does anyone know what type of boot you should be in once you are able to bear weight? tall or short?

I am hoping to have my tall boot taken off after 6 weeks from a broken 5th metaatarsal , and I am assuming thaat I will then be able to bear weight  with a normal shoe... but not sure so I too would like an answer to your question.  daphne

It depends on what you Dr/Surgeon recommends but, I was told short are for foot injuries tall are for ankles. Unfortunately I've got both.

I didn't have a boot at all..though didn't have surgery..fractured mine, displaced mid shaft.  Am three months on, had to totally rest and elevate for about 6 weeks, and on crutches, am now down to one crutch if I have to walk far and none in the house...freedom!!  Think all consultants over here, in UK, go a different path..which is VERY frustrating.
