5 WEEKS AND CANT WEE PROPERLY

Hi all,

Me again!! I had a complicated perenium reconstruction and rectocele done 5 weeks ago. I’m moving round much better now and am doing more round the house etc so in that sense I’m improving ....

However I think I can feel my bladder prolapse again sad aside from the feeling, I find it WEIRD weeing still? It’s like I can’t push like I used to. I sort of concentrate and relax and then I wee but I can’t squeeze the last out so it feels like I’m not fully emptying my bladder? So hard to complain. I saw my consultant as I was I’ll post op and still have a lot of swelling now (rock solid!!!!) but he said it all looks great.

Anyone offer any advice or had this?

Thank you!

    Hi Laura

I had cystocele and rectocele repair 11 days ago. Not sure if u read any of my previous but I came home with catheter as I couldn't wee enuf. Only had the catheter removed yesterday 10 days post surgery. My doctor was happy that my residual in my bladder was about 200mls. Not optimal but acceptable. I can't wee properly like a proper volume or stream. All the nurses said everyone is so different there isn't really a right or normal when it comes 2 healing. Which is super hard to accept when u just want to be ur old self. My doctor also said the bladder is a sensitive organ that doesn't like being touched and can take time to settle down. Like me ur probs really frustrated. I think that once all ur swelling goes down u will see a big improvement. Chin up 🖤

Hi Laura, I’m almost 4 weeks post op now and like you I am also moving around more easily, although I still ache terribly when standing or walking for too long. I still have external stitches in place and I too am still swollen. My bladder and Bowels are not right at all. I never had bladder issues before but I cannot seem to hold a pee and appear to go a lot (like I’m not emptying properly). I am hopeful it’s just the swelling and things will settle in the coming weeks.

I am due to go back to work in 3 weeks and right now I cannot imagine how I will achieve this. I will be 6 weeks post op and on my feet for 7 hours a day as well as a long drive to and from.

This op certainly does knock it out of us but reading others experiences, it’s worth it in the long run. Hang in there

    Hi Laura

Your still very eArly days.. As I said before it takes months for us to be feeling relatively normal. You said you can't push... I hope you don't push when you wee as this is pushing on your stitches and on weak areas.

I had a well behaved bladder after my op but I do know it all depends on the person and how the bladder was help in the surgery,so surgeons are gentle other not so much.. I can highly recommend a squatty potty stool, it puts your posture in the correct position for bladder and bowel release. That way your organs will relax to allow for voiding without any pushing. Please don't worry too much love, but if you are like me and a big worry sort get to see your consultant, they are the guys to quash any concerns.xx
