Hello dont panic 6 weeks is still to early i was the same as you im on 3 months of sertraline at 50mgs and its worked wonders. I do need a little increase but waiting untill after christmas to do so as ive still got a few small issues that i need to get over. 8 weeks is when i started to feel it kicking in, by 6 or 7 weeks i wanted to give up as i thought this tablet was rubbish but trust me keep going. If you give up now just remember that you will be back to square one on another med with side effects. 2 more weeks buddy 2 more weeks

Keep with it Rooney. You will come good maybe you need an increase of the meds. Im on 100mg now. I was on 50mg to start with for 7 days now i have upped it to 100mg from the docs say so. I think 100 should be the dose for a man myself what we got to think is men are bigger builds then Ladies so maybe we need a higher dose im not sure

Not being funny but im a bloke and 50mgs has sorted me out 80%. 100mgs is  normal dose 50mgs is small but 70% of people only need 50mgs and get on well with it.

Dont push on more mgs on anyone as we are all different. I told my advice of sticking with it as 50mgs never effected me untill 8 weeks and pushing on more mgs maybe not what is needed. Sorry to have put that but its the wrong advice. Doctors are so soon to push you up a dose after a week or 2 when in reality who knows what dose you really need and 2 weeks is never enough to say. Sertraline takes months to work trust me.

I'm afraid I have given up on Sertraline today!  After taking the tablet for one month, my symptoms got worse and I have felt so unwell over this past weekend, unable to go out, weak, weepy, drained, angry etcetc.  Saw my original doctor who wondered why I was changed from Citalopram to Sertraline although, as he said, they are in the same family of drugs. I am now reverting to Citalopram as I never suffered any ill-effects.  Hoping now to get back to 'normal'.  I didn't want to experience the side effects so many of you are suffering!

Hi Pam, why did you decide to change meds in the first place?

I was on Citalopram for over 3 years, and became very depressed because of relationship problems, I went to see a different Dr in our practice & he suggested Sertraline as it was a newer product and apparently better!  He stopped Citalopram & put me on them over the course of one month! Last weekend was probably one of the worst weekends of my life!  I just was not in control, drained, exhausted weepy etc etc!  Saw my original doctor who suggested I return to Citalopram again as I had no ill effects with them.  This is just my second day and already I feel better than I did!  Perhaps he should have weaned me off the Citalopram gradually?

Im not suffering any really bad side effects apart from bad sweating in bed on a night. I wouldn't push an increase dose on anybody. AD shouldn't really take months to work. Up to 6 weeks id say if you don't feel the benefits id change or up the dose. Thats just me

I would say you are still very early aswell.  At 6 weeks I was back at dr saying I was no better but I reckon at about 7 weeks I noticed improvement and now I must be about 9-10 weeks and pretty much back to myself .. Stick with it smile
