5 weeks following full knee replacement,

I was on one crutch walking dogs with husband, had physio the day before and told im doing very well. then on walk, our 25kg x border collie whilst running backwards looking to see where the ball might land , ran straight in to me at speed, hitting new knee, so fast that I span round before I fell to floor, and was reduced to tears the pain was that great,. that was yesterday, im now having to walk on two crutches, and I can no longer straighten my leg. the pain isn't as bad today as was yesterday, but bad enough to make me feel sick when I have to walk to go loo e.c.t. im just resting and iceing it as much as I can, sleep is rubbish.my husband insists I have only bruised it so am going to wait till Monday then see how bad im feeling then may be try and get xray. I feel so guilty incase ive hurt new knee. any body had similar experience?

    Can you call your Doctor’s weekend number for emergencies? You need to see him as soon as possible for X-rays. Remember you can not have MRIs . I hope your husband is correct but only an exam will be necessary.

    Hi Mandy,

    I recently tripped when on holiday in Croatia. Pain was unreal. I thought I was in real b trouble. I iced, elevated and rested and also took Difene anti-inflammatorises. After 36-48 hours I was fine.

    Hope you're the same.

    It maybe hard to understand but your replacement even though its been less then 6 weeks it can handle more then you think. The problem is the pain this was a major surgery it hurts like hell for quite awhile. If it were me I would give it a few days 2 or 3 to see if the pain eases up if it does you will be okay if it stays the same or get worse yes by all means call the Dr. After my 4th revision I had an infection and I ended up having to get a spacer put in this was end of Dec. 2015 we had a pretty good snowfall that winter and I had to see the Dr. but I had to clear the driveway as well as the car with a spacer I ended up falling my knee bent more then it wanted too I was ready to scream with pain but their were others outside I ended up sitting in the snow freezing for about 10 to 15 minutes before I could get back up. It hurt awful but no damage was done so I hope your will get better as well.

    thanks all for your info, am going to call doc this morning, the pain has not gone , I can only take very small steps with a crutch, then roughly one step in every 10 I get awful pain on inside of knee , feels like some one shoves a huge spike from knee to  thigh bone, makes me swear and feel sick every time, and puts me off walking at all. really hope its nothing, but do think I need to get it checked out. will let you know out come.
