5 Weeks on sertraline, headaches

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi folks, I have been on sertraline now for 5 weeks now, 50 mg the first week then 100 mg since, however I get this head pressure or headache and they seem to be more frequent now, Im not sure if its the meds or anxiety causing them. But they seem to start at the same time as bouts of negative thinking and getting worked up.

Did anyone else experience similar and does it pass

Nick, the headaches are side effects. Do read the info leaflet with your meds

I've got headaches too Nick, along with dizziness and an unreal feeling too. It's cos your body is still trying to adjust to this new chemical which is working with the central nervous system. It's not nice, I know, I just went up to 200mg 15 days ago.

Sounds like tension headaches to me. Tensing all your muscles in your shoulders and neck when stressed. Relaxtion techniques might help ???

I just talked to my Dr about 15 minutes ago. Told him about my side effects with this med. I was on 50mg and he told me to stop it, dont take it anymore.

My son take this med and he is doing great, why I asked for it. Go figure.

Hi Mitzy , I know how you feel. I gave the pills to my husband to get rid of the them. I didn't want to look at them. Maybe this is not the rigth med for us.I I just cant belive being sick for 4 to 6 week before it star to work, can you imagine what it's doing to your brain.

My son is doing fine with them and God Bless him, but they are not for me. Hope you are feeling better!

I have bouts of negative thoughts, its hard to say if they start before or after the headaches or head pressure. The last few days I'v been getting into a bad mood as i'm fed up wirh them now, the same thoughts recurring over and over are the worst part of it

nick..did the headaches and negative thoughts started before or after the pills??????Seems to me and this is just me, my experience , I dont know why a person have to be doing other things when you are in an antidepresant. There is a comercial on TV where they said "if the antidepresant you are taking now is not working for you, you should take this other pill along with it" That sounds crasy to me. It should be "if what you are taking now is not working try something else". 200mg of setraline...not for me!

Hello Nick. I experienced seriously bad headaches for the first five days. Today (so far) is the first day I've been headache free. I'm on my eighth day (50mg daily). Apparently ibruprofen based painkillers are to be avoided. Hope things improve soon for you. Jason.
